So, a thumping win for the Lucknow Super Giants over the Chennai Super Kings to get back to winning ways. It's time for us to take your leave. It was a pleasure bringing you all the updates from this clash. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Ninaad Dixit, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide, Deepak Prakash and Sidharth Gulati and scorer Paras Yadav. Bye Bye.
KL Rahul (LSG Captain and Player of the Match): "Feels good at the end of the day for you to make all the decisions right. We committed to what our plans were and we did what was expected for the team and then we went to the runs. Really happy with that.

Its generally how I try to deploy my bowlers. It depends on the kind of wicket we are playing on and the kind of batters there are. There's a bit of time we spend doing homework and talking about tactics and strategies against the opposition. That was one of our strategies to use pace and spin, try to mix it around and not let them settle down. Credit to the bowlers as they executed really well. We worked really hard at training and its good to see that the team is sticking to the plans.

Halfway stage, I would have been happy with 160. Felt like the wicket was a bit slow, bit of a grip but not too much. 160-165 would have been ideal. But its MSD, he walks in and the pressure gets to the bowlers and that's the presence and intimidation that he's had over teams and oppositions and bowlers. We have a young team and its the first time they were put under pressure by a huge figure like MS and the crowd was really loud. They stuck to their plans but he is a phenomenal player to still hit that for sixes. 15-20 runs extra but we knew if we batted well, we can get to the total.

I've been trying to assess the situation and see what I can do best for my team and today was another such day where I tried and it came off. I knew that with Chennai's spinners they will try to create pressure. We got off to a good start. I tried to take the bowlers on and it came off really well. When you don't lose a wicket then life gets easier and you both can take a chance.

Its a different ball game playing in Chennai. I was telling the boys in the huddle to get used to it as we will get it again maybe a bit louder in a couple of games. Its good fun and exciting. A young team enjoying playing under pressure, it brings the best out of the players and that's what you learn from the experience. Looking forward to playing CSK again."

Marcus Stoinis (LSG): β€œWe needed this. Important win for us. We will play Chennai again in two days but happy to get the win. Boys have played well.

The way we started with the ball, we could have kept them under that total. Credit to them for the way they finished and MS as well. But we did well with the bat. KL played well and Nicky came in and did the thing.

(On the opening stand between Rahul and de Kock) It was the important partnership for us at the top. It gives us a chance to plan and play after that lower down the order.

We have got the confidence within the team. We have different boys stepping at different times in this season. Different people are putting their hands up and it’s a great sign for us as a team.

(On picking a wicket on the very first ball) I said KL whether I was done with the ball for the next four games or are you giving me the ball again (laughs). But it was good to get in the wickets.”
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "I know we finished off really well. Couldn't have asked for more. But I think after the power play, we couldn't just kick off from the start we got until the 14th or 15th over.

We kept losing wickets at regular intervals. So I still really feel 10-15 runs short. Slightly difficult, yes, but you know, with this impact player rule, you always need that 10-15, maybe 20 runs extra. Even on these kinds of pitches, I felt it was sluggish to start off with. But with the dew coming on later and conditions improving, I still feel 180-190 could have been a good score.

I think this is the one area that definitely we would like to improve going forward (taking wickets in the powerplay). And I think it really puts us on the back foot if we lose wickets in the powerplay, especially when we are just about ten runs short. Definitely, I think that, as I said, that's the area where we need to work on.

Yes, definitely good to play them again. Some will definitely come up with good homework done. And now that we have three games in Chennai, definitely a good weekend is in for us."
11:18 PM: The Lucknow Super Giants avoid a hat-trick of losses and also don't allow Chennai Super Kings to get a hat-trick of wins with a thumping 8 wicket victory at the Ekana Stadium in match number 34 of the Indian Premier League.

Skipper KL Rahul flipped the coin in his favor deciding to bowl first. Ravindra Jadeja top scored with 57*, Ajinkya Rahane hitting 36 at the top with MS Dhoni finishing with an unbeaten 28 off 9 deliveries. Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis starred with the ball to contain CSK for 176/6, a pretty much chaseable score this season.

The Super Giants started off well with bat in hand. Skipper Rahul playing the aggressor with 82 in 53 balls. Quinton de Kock scored 54 in 43 adding 134 runs for the first wicket. CSK used 6 bowlers and got the breakthrough in the 15th over when Mustafizur Rahman (1/43) chipped and removed de Kock.

Rahul continued with his momentum and with just 16 needed in 17 balls, played a cut through backward point which was snaffled magically by Jadeja diving to his left and taking it one-handed. Nicholas Pooran (23*) and Marcus Stoinis didn't have a big task on hand and led LSG to the win.

On the bowling front, Matheesha Pathirana somewhat poised a challenge with 1/29 in his 4 overs. Moeen Ali bowled just one over conceding 5 runs. Deepak Chahar on comeback had figures of 0/26 in 3 overs but the rest of the lot was expensive with Jadeja (0/32 in 3) and Tushar Deshpande (0/42) remaining wicketless.

LSG move to 8 points on the table and join the likes of KKR, CSK and SRH - all these teams having 8 points on the ladder. CSK with a better net run rate are third in the table with LSG keeping the fifth rank. Both teams will again face each other on Tuesday but in Chennai.

Stay tuned for the post match coverage.
