Milestone
That brings the curtains on our live coverage of this PSL game between the Quetta Gladiators and the Peshawar Zalmi. For now it will be Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of Ayan Chatterjee and our Scorer/Analyst Paras Yadav. See you soon!
Rilee Rossouw (Quetta Gladiators Captain): "I am not going to answer that. It was tough out there and glad to get the win. It was a defendable score and we had to bowl well to do the job. The bowlers were good and did their job. I thought we would win and we did that. Yes, Abrar with his mystery was great and Akeal bowled crucial overs for us. Our death bowling worked and executed things better as we went along. There is room for improvement. Happy with what I saw today. Happy with the win and doing well and happy with what we saw. Watson has great experience and the professionalism is something that we need to buy into. We need to keep doing well going forward in the tournament. Hope to do well in the coming games."
Saud Shakeel (Player of the Match): "Yes, thanks to Allah. I think I have been waiting for the opportunity. Working hard and following the process out there and glad it worked. Everything happens for a reason. Playing with Jason Roy helps and enjoying his company. I think the whole management giving me confidence and giving me platform to do well. Also, lots of thanks to Shane Watson."
Player of the Match: Saud Shakeel.
Superpower of the Match: Babar Azam.
Energetic Batter of the Match: Jason Roy.
Moment of the Match: Mohammad Wasim Jr.
Time for the post-match presentations.
Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi Captain- Unfortunately due to my mistake Saim was run out and it was the turning point. We had covered it up a bit but my dismissal changed the scenario again. When you are chasing a total as big as this one you need to play with a positive mindset and Saim gave us a great start. We had given away 20 runs extra at the beginning and that cost us in the end. The start is always important but we couldn't hold on to the momentum in the end. Hopefully we will come back stronger in the next game.
Mohammad Amir: "Yes, credit to the batters. Saud and Jason batted well. Not easy to bat first. It was important to defend this score and to win the first match is satisfying to see. I always stick to the basics and play around with the field and that's what I do. I think Saud batted well and he deserves all the credit. Jason Roy is world class but credit to Saud. I had a great time with Karachi and now looking to do well for Quetta."
18:18 IST, 17:48 Local time- The Quetta Gladiators have held their nerve in the end and they've clinched a high scoring thriller by 16 runs. Dan Mousley and Rovman Powell gave them a bit of a scare at the end but Amir and Waseem were brilliant in the end and they sealed the deal for their side with relative ease. The Peshawar Zalmi will eventually end up with 190/6 in their 20 overs.

The Peshawar Zalmi started off with a bang as they dominated the powerplay courtesy Babar Azam's and Saim Ayub's dazzling partnership. The duo went from strength to strength and played some big shots against Amir, Akeal and Hasnain. Ayub got to his 40 in real quick time before he was dismissed. His run out was followed by the wicket of Mohammad Haris and it brought the Gladiators back into the game.

Babar Azam went ahead for a while and found a partner in Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The pair put up 41 runs but just as they were bringing their team back into the game Abrar struck back to back blows in the same over and it put the Zalmi on the backfoot again. It proved to be the turning point in the game as the Zalmi couldn't recover post that.

The Gladiators have put up a convincing performance here and despite the early onslaught from the Peshawar openers, they won the game quite easily. Mohammad Amir conceded just 6 runs from the penultimate over and that swung the pendulum their favor. Abrar was the pick of the bowlers as he lived up to his reputation and picked up two game-changing wickets in one over including Babar Azam.

1-49(4.0)
19.6 M Wasim to A Jamal
1 Fuller length around off, Jamal drives it down the ground to long-off for a single to end the over and the match. That's it. The game is over. Peshawar Zalmi falls short. It is the Quetta Gladiators who win this game by 16 runs and notch up their first points on the board.
19.5 M Wasim to A Jamal
0 Nails the yorker at the stumps, Jamal looks to squeeze out and misses to the keeper.
19.4 M Wasim to A Jamal
2 Fuller and wide outside off, Jamal squeezes it away to deep backward point for a couple of runs.
It's a four but it doesn't matter. The Zalmi need 20 runs from three balls now and all that Wasim has to do is to keep his foot behind the line.
19.3 M Wasim to A Jamal
4 FOUR! Short of a length into the pitch, Jamal goes for the pull shot and gets the top edge over the keeper and away it goes to the third man fence.
Aamer Jamal, RHB, comes to the crease.
