Signing off, this is Hitesh Peddurwar, joined by co-commentator Akshay Bhide and our meticulous scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Wishing you all a delightful weekend filled with cricket excitement!

Lloyd Pope (Player of the Match): “I think I was just using the long boundary. Trying to bowl and ask the batters to hit to the longer side. When I came into the squad, I tried to have fun and execute my skills. But the main thing was to have fun and enjoy the occasion. I haven’t really thought about it. Just taking one game at a time. Brisbane Heat are a great side and we are really looking forward to facing them on Monday."

17:00 IST, 19:30 Local Time: That's it, folks!!!! Adelaide Strikers have done it, they have beat Pertch Scorchers by a good margin of 50 runs and have made their way into the Challenger game, where they will face Brisbane Heat. Perth Scorchers have been knocked out of the competition!!!!!!

Earlier in the game, The Perth Scorchers delivered an impressive bowling performance, limiting the Adelaide Strikers to 155/7. They consistently took wickets, preventing the Strikers from gaining momentum. Opting to bat first, the Strikers struggled early, losing D'Arcy Short in the second over.

Scorchers' bowlers dominated the powerplay, and Matthew Short fell to Andrew Tye soon after. Jake Weatherald fought a lone battle, scoring a brisk fifty off 30 balls, but the Scorchers struck back, dismissing key batsmen. The Power Surge yielded only 15 runs for the Strikers.

Despite a 34-run partnership between Ben Manenti and Henry Thornton, the Strikers finished at 155/7 in 20 overs. The Scorchers' bowlers, led by Aaron Hardie and Cooper Connolly with two wickets each, showcased their skills. Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye also contributed with a wicket each.

The Perth Scorchers started their chase of 156 runs on a high note, scoring 33 runs without losing a wicket in the powerplay. However, the momentum shifted in the 5th over when Henry Thornton dismissed Sam Fanning for a well-made 31 runs. Unfortunately, the Scorchers faced a collapse in the middle overs, losing wickets consistently.

From a promising 38-0, they quickly slumped to 44-4, putting immense pressure on the batting side. The partnership between Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly, worth 22 runs for the 5th wicket, briefly provided hope. However, Cameron Boyce's dismissal of Inglis in the 12th over dealt a severe blow to the Scorchers.

As wickets continued to fall, the Scorchers were eventually bowled out for 105 runs in just 16.2 overs. The collapse was a result of the Strikers' effective bowling and the Scorchers struggled to recover, ultimately falling short in their chase by 50 runs.

From the bowling point of view, Lloyd Pope was the pick of the bowlers for the Adelaide Strikers as he scalped 4 wickets in his 4-over spell. Cameron Boyce chipped in with 3 wickets. Matthew Short, David Payne and Henry Thornton scalped a wicket each.

Has he taken it??? It looks like he has taken it 🫡 cleanly. Soft signal is OUT. James Bazley in the deep, near the ropes leaps up in the air, and grabs the ball. He loses his balance for a while, he throws the ball in the air, comes back inside the ropes, and takes the catch. Yeah, TV replays show that he has taken it cleanly and OUT is the decision from the umpire.
16.2 C Boyce to C Connolly
W In the air and taken by Bazley. Great catch from him out on the boundary. The umpires converge and send it upstairs to check for a clean catch. This was a short delivery from Boyce on the stumps, Connolly rocks back and goes for the pull but mistimes it in the long on region. Bazley stationed right on the edge of the ropes grabs it and throws it up as he was losing his balance. He steps out of the ropes and again jumps to parry it inside. He comes back inside the field of play and completes the catch on the third attempt. The third umpire is having a look at it and is satisfied that it is a clean catch. OUT displayed on the big screen and that's the end of this fixture. Adelaide Strikers beat Perth Scorchers by 50 runs in the Perth Stadium.
100 comes up for the Perth Scorchers! But the target looks very far away from them as they have just one wicket in the hand.
16.1 C Boyce to C Connolly
6 SIXXX!!!! Beautiful shot. Boyce tosses this up outside off, Connolly steps out of the crease to get to the pitch of the ball and lifts it over covers. Gets it right off the middle of the bat and the ball sails over the ropes for a maximum.
16.1 C Boyce to C Connolly
WD Turning down leg and Connolly misses the flick. Wide signaled by the umpire.

Adelaide Strikers are just one wicket away from getting Challenger's game!
15.6 L Pope to J Behrendorff
W BOWLED' EM!!!! Pope finishes with a four-fer and the Strikers are on the brink of the victory here. Comes wider of the crease and bowls a flighted googly around off, Behrendorff leans into it and drives at it but leaves a big gap between the bat and the pad. The ball sneaks in between to disturb the timber.
