This is it, from the one cricket live coverage for the encounter between Perth Scorchers Women and Sydney Thunders Women. This is Arijit Kundu signing off, alongside co-commentator, Akshay Bhide and Ayan Chatterjee. Hope you've enjoyed every bit of the coverage, and do not forget to turn up for the next WBBL game and the WCT20 semi finals slated later in the day.
Arriving for the mammoth run chase, Thunder already lost their first wicket in the first over as skipper, Hannah Darlington failed to cover the slightest away swing from Marizanne Kapp.

Smriti Mandhana took the control of the game by rebounding the pressure back on the fielding team as she tonged 13 runs off the next over. But just when we were heading towards a Mandhana's class, rain played the spoilsport and ended the game with points being shared between the two sides.

There have been no modifications in the points table, as Scorchers redeems its spot at the second position with 14 points from 11 games and Thunders continue to lag at the bottom of the table.
Earlier in the game, Perth Scorchers Women had won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost a couple of wickets within the first seven overs including Sophie Devine and Chloe Piparo. Sammy-Jo-Johnson, and skipper, Hannah Darlington were the one's to strike with the ball in hand.

Despite the early blows, Beth Mooney continues her glare in the tournament and kept the scoreboard ticking with quick runs and elegant boundaries. The experienced Chamari Athapathu came to her support and played some fascinating shots all over the park.
Both the batters, steadied the ship in no time and accelerated their innings as the game progressed. They were at 130-2 after 15 overs with Beth Moomey on 61 of 40 deliveries and Athapathu on 40 of 25 deliveries.

Soon, the pair accelerated at the top gear and thrashed thrashed Johnson for 20 runs in the 18th over. No bowler could stop this destructive pair as they put on a score of 184-2 after at the end of the 1st innings.
So, not the kind of result, one, as a cricket fan would've liked to end up with. There had been a good amount of downpours before the start of the match. And now that it has again played the spoilsport in the game, it's a shame.

Unfortunately the game halts at 21-1 after 2.3 overs with Smriti Mandhana, and Phoebe Litchfield at either end. It was a must-win game for the Thunders, but both the team ends up sharing the match points.
Update 10.30 AM IST:- Match has been abandoned due to rain. Rain has had the final say in this game as the umpires have deemed it not good enough for play to resume. It's very unfortunate as both teams will get only a solitary point. Perth Scorchers would have fancied getting full points after getting 184-2. I guess it's a point gained for Thunder and a point lost for Scorchers.
Update 09:47 AM IST: Ohh Dear...It has started to rain here in Adelaide and the groundsmen are out with the covers. The entire square is being covered and the players walk off. Let's hope it's a passing shower.
