11:52 PM IST, Local Time | Well that's it from the southern derby folks! A super sunday with two super victories for RCB and CSK! A tight table as we now have 5 teams on 10 points. Join us back tomorrow as the IPL 2024 bandwagon rolls on with KKR vs DC from the Eden Gardens!

Until then, this is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Sidharth Gulati, and our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya! See you on the next one!
Biggest defeats for Sunrisers Hyderabad in terms of runs in IPL:

-78 against Chennai Super Kings, Chennai, TONIGHT*

-77 against Chennai Super Kings, Hyderabad, 2013

-72 against Rajasthan Royals, Hyderabad, 2023

-72 against Punjab Kings, Sharjah, 2014
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain and Player of the Match): "Feeling good, its tough to play in such wet conditions and to be able to win by 70 odd runs is a clinical performance. Batting first at the toss was a blessing in disguise for us.

Everything is good, the conditions are too hot and humid, and in last two games I was out on the field for all 40 overs, so found it a little difficult to breathe. I was never thinking about a 100, I just wanted to make sure we get to 220-225, and even in the last game it was about getting those 10-15 extra runs.

I was more disappointed in missing out on those 4-5 hits in the end and was upset during the mid-innings too. The total was enough obviously but last game we made some errors and there were loose balls. So, we came up with another plan and we stuck to those today, we knew what to expect and the catches won it for us. With the impact player rule you always want those extra 20 runs, you never know what the par score could be and you always want those extra runs.

Definitely, that was one area where we lost the momentum, not getting enough wickets in the powerplay. If we pick early wickets, it puts the opposition under pressure, and we know how good of a bowler Tushar is and he delivered today. Credit to Jaddu as well.

I am not really vocal, and everyone is experienced in the dressing room, so it's best to take a back seat and let them do their job."

Tushar Deshpande (CSK): "Yeah, I mean, it was good, actually. When we came to bowl, it was about keep bowling and having patience against a batting line-up as aggressive as SRH's.

Bowling length in Powerplay is very crucial. The mindset is to keep hitting the same area despite being hit by the batters. Even if the batters were hitting, my plan was to keep hitting the same length and inviting them to go after them. That's always my mindset.

The ground was soaking wet. A couple of balls swung a bit, but later, they didn't swing at all. We used the pitch better and well. It was a bit sticky. We had a specific plan that even if they hit a good ball, we'll try to bowl that good ball again. We weren't changing our plan depending on their approach."
Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain): "Not really [on being asked if batting second today was an experiment], you know we thought batting second was our best chance to win but it did not come off tonight. I thought they batted really well through the middle and we thought with our lineup we could get it but we could not pull it off. Nothing went right for us today but can't blame the lineup because at some point in the tournament they have won games for us.

It's dewy now and we thought it would give us a better chance in the second innings but it started coming in the first innings itself. The games come thick and fast in this tournament and we will aim to bounce back quickly from this one."
23:29 IST and Local Time | That's it. Chennai Super Kings complete a clinical 78-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are on a two-match losing streak. The defending champions return to winning ways and jump to the third spot in the tally. Full marks to their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, and Tushar Deshpande for their outstanding performances.

Chasing a mammoth target of 213, SRH were off to a terrible start as they lost Travis Head, Impact Player Anmolpreet Singh, and Abhishek Sharma inside the opening four overs. Aiden Markram and Nitish Kumar Reddy then did a bit of rebuilding before being dismissed in quick succession. Most of their batters found the going tough and the visitors were bundled out for 134. They kept finding Mitchell at the boundary, giving him as many as five catches and he held onto every one of them. For CSK, Deshpande grabbed a four-wicket haul while Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana, who struggled with an undisclosed injury, bagged two scalps each.

Earlier, after being asked to bat, CSK lost Ajinkya Rahane fell early but Gaikwad and Mitchell added a 107-run stand. Mitchell, who had been struggling for form, struck a timely half-century, his first in the IPL. But it was Gaikwad though who stole the show. He looked set for consecutive centuries before becoming a victim of the nervous nineties (98). Dube then did his job once again, hammering lusty blows and remaining unbeaten on 39 off only 20 balls. CSK eventually finished on 212, a total that proved enough for them to seal the deal.
STAT ATTACK - This is 150th IPL win for MS Dhoni.
