Milestone
That's it from the coverage of the thriller that we had for you in PSL 2024. We will be back tomorrow with more cricketing actions from around the globe and across formats in our network. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Rilee Rossouw (Quetta Gladiators Captain)- "I think it's a great time of cricket. Sherfane has played a stellar innings and Akeal also. We settled before the season kicked off and we ticked almost all the boxes before coming to the tournament. You lose some and you get some at days. We have had a great day today."
Sherfane Rutherford (Player of the Match): "Yes, first of all thank god for the opportunity. Yes, not easy. But that's what we are paid for. Happy to contribute and do the job for the team. It started with conversation with Shane on mental health. Focus on the process and keep it simple and focus and bat deep. As I said, it is my job to bat long and do it for the team. That's what we are paid for and glad I can contribute to the team's cause with the help of the bowlers."
Player of the Match: Sherfane Rutherford.
Superpower of the Day: Usman Tariq.
Energetic Batter of the Match: Jason Roy.
Moment of the Match: Tim Seifert.
Time for the presentations.
Shan Masood (Karachi Kings Captain)- "We put ourselves in a really good position and it is really a hard pill to swallow. I thought we had a very good start and that allowed us to have a little blip. Shoaib Malik and Nawaz helped us to recover from the wicket loss after that and then we went to score a safe total. I think we have slipped a few fielding chances. I don't want to pin-point a mistake but yes if we got the wickets of Saud Shakeel and Roy earlier, things would have been better for us. We will get a couple of days off and we are taking it as positively as we will get some time to regroup before the match against Multan. We have won three games out of five, not bad."
Shane Watson (Quetta Gladiators Coach)- "The blood pressure has gone up and my heart rate is quite higher I can feel. Sherfane Rutherford has had a game and that's some incredible finish from him. He is really a powerful cricketer. The partnership of Akeal and Sherfane was too much crucial for us and when you have these type of partnership in the lower order, it is always a plus. I have tons of memories playing here in Pakistan and now I have come back as a coach and things are going well."
11:23 PM IST, 10:53 PM Local Time: Phew, what a game we have had here in Karachi. A game that went from one team to another. Karachi Kings made a match out of it and almost won it in the end. But Sherfane Rutherford under pressure held his nerve and wins the game for his side off the final ball of the game. The Gladiators win this game by 5 wickets off the final ball to stay in second place in the points table while Karachi loses two games in a row at home.

Chasing a target of 166 for the win, the Gladiators got off to a solid start thanks to Jason Roy who got a fifty and got out. He scored 52 while Saud Shakeel scored 24 off 20 balls as the openers put on a show in the powerplay overs. But the Gladiators lost their way in the middle overs as there was a mini collapse in the end. But it was Sherfane Rutherford who kept his cool and finished things off in style with his unbeaten 58* off 31 balls. Akeal Hosein gave him good company with his 22* off 17 balls as they got over the line off the final ball of the match by 5 wickets.

For Karachi Kings point of view, Zahid Mahmood was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/17 in 4 overs. Hasan Ali picked up a couple of wickets for 39 runs in 4 overs. Shoaib Malik picked up a wicket and gave away 19 runs in 3 overs. They tried their best, but lost at the backend of the game.

Earlier in the game, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and decided to bowl first. They lost skipper Shan Masood early. Tim Seifert scored 21 off 11 balls while James Vince scored 37 off 23 balls. Shoaib Malik laboured his way to 12 off 20 balls. Mohammad Nawaz scored 28 off 19 balls. Kieron Pollard made 13 off 10 balls while Niazi made 15 off 10 balls. Anwar Ali's brilliant 25* off 14 balls took Karachi Kings to 165/8 in 20 overs.

From the bowling point of view, Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with 3/31 in 4 overs. Usman Tariq bowled well for his 2/16 in 4 overs. The spinners of Quetta were in full flow and song today. A couple of wickets for Akeal Hosein at the top as he gave away 34 runs in 4 overs. A wicket to Mohammad Wasim Jr but he went the distance tonight.

So, a win for Quetta Gladiators over Karachi Kings by 5 wickets off the final ball of the match as they consolidate second place in the points table. Stay tuned for the presentations.

Rutherford finishes the game in style!! It is the West Indian who has snatched the game from the opposition. He remains unbeaten on 58.

4 FOUR! Length ball and in the pads, Rutherford flicks it away through the square leg region as the ball gets the gap and away to the fence for a boundary. Rutherford finishes things off in style as Quetta Gladiators win this game off the final ball by 5 wickets thanks to Rutherford and collect two vital points. What a game of cricket.
ALL SET FOR THE FINAL BALL! Here comes Anwar Ali. All the fielders are standing inside the ring to prevent the single.
SCORES ARE LEVEL NOW!! Anwar Ali will look to bowl a dot ball to take the game to super over. But wait! TV umpire is summoned for a run out check. TV replay shows that Rutherford has made a full-fledged dive to drag his bat inside the crease. Commendable job in the field by the Karachi fielders. What a game we are having! TV umpire also confirmed that there was no obstruction of the field and Rutherford will happily snatch two runs from here.
19.5 A Ali to S Rutherford
2 Fuller and wide outside off, Rutherford looks to drive it away and excellent fielding by the fielder. Some mix up between the batters here. and Rutherford dives and make his ground. The ball was released late by the bowler. They may have got a brace here. Yes, bat is grounded behind the line. NOT OUT is the call and the equation is now 1 needed off 1 ball.
