That's it from our coverage of match number 9 in the ninth season of Pakistan Super League. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Anirudh Modi, Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi Captain): "We need these points after losing 2 games. We were expecting 170-180 and we got that. Me and Haseebullah were in a good partnership and then we had some more partnerships as well.

Home teams have an edge. We executed the plans. I am happy as a captain but we need to take the catches. It would have made a difference in the margin of win.

We wanted to try a different combination including youngsters. It worked very well for us."
Luke Wood (Player of the Match): "Just tried to execute the plans as perfectly as possible. We were more consistent today and loving my experience here and it has all paid off. I was expecting a bit more balance in the other games but it has been pretty skiddy all over."
Player of the Match: Luke Wood

Time for the post match presentation ceremony..
Muhammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans Captain): "We always learn from defeats, I hope the people of Pakistan enjoyed this match. There was a little difference which we have identified. We thought we could chase it down, there were ups and downs, but we had planned well. We are experimenting with our batting lineup, we try to keep it flexible according to the conditions and requirements,"
11:28 PM IST, 10:58 PM Local Time: A thrilling encounter with a last ball finish in the 9th match of PSL 9 as Peshawar Zalmi clinch the victory by 5 runs after scoring 179/8 winning the toss and batting first. It was a joint effort from both the Zalmi batting and bowling groups to get their first win this season.

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed in the 3rd over for a duck by Luke Wood who was magnificent in his spell of 2/13. Opener Yasir Khan scored 43 off 37 deliveries guiding the team ahead adding 45 runs with Reeza Hendricks (28 off 27).

Yasir was removed by Salman Irshad in the 9th over bringing Dawid Malan on the pitch who smashed his way to 52 off 25 balls hitting 3 fours and as many sixes. After Malan and Hendricks' dismissals, Iftikhar Ahmed was sent out at number 6 in the 16th over but couldn't get much strike.

Usama Mir at 7 hit 2 sixes in a row and was dismissed on the very next delivery by Arif Yaqoob who got 3 wickets in the 17th over conceding 14 runs. Abbas Afridi hit 2 crucial boundaries before bringing Ifti on strike in the final over. With 22 needed off 6, the equation came down to 6 off 1. With Iftikhar sent back by Naveen in the final over, the onus was on Shahnawaz Dahani to face the final delivery which eventually saw him dismissed.

Wood was the pick of the bowlers with Arif Yaqoob (3/43) taking the most wickets. Salman Irshad (2/39), Naveen-ul-Haq (2/44) and Paul Walter (1/35) picked up important wickets and kept the lid on scoring rate in important junctures of the match taking Peshawar Zalmi to their first win of the season.
