That's a wrap up on proceedings of this Match 20 of SA20 2024. Don't go too far away as the Match 21 between Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings has already begun. Switch tabs to follow that match and for all other cricketing actions across the globe, stay tuned to our network for all the action across formats. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS from here!
Tom Abell (Player of the Match): "Yes, it's nice to contribute to the team. It was tricky out there. It was a competitive score and we did well to defend it. Pace off the ball worked here. The cutters and everything worked well. It was a competitive score and the bowlers did the job. They are the real heroes. It was great getting over the line in the end. Great to play under this group and a great atmosphere we have as a group. The crowd has been amazing and they were singing and dancing out there. Happy that we won the game and hope we can continue doing the good work going forward."
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain): "It's not great Pommy. Always find close battles. Great to come out on top in the end. Good score that we put on the board. It was a par score. They batted really well and we did well to win the game. Tom Abell played really well. He took the pressure of me and I had a good game. Nice to spend some time in the middle would have liked to stay till the end. Stubbs was great with great intensity. Yes, we needed one over and Kruger bowled into the wicket. It happens. It was risky and gambled a bit. Pat came back towards the end. That's it. Always a toss up. Sometimes it works for you and sometimes it does not. Pat came back well. Good to hear that. Thank You."
Kieron Pollard (MI Cape Town Captain): "To be honest, cricket is a game of small margins. We faltered at crucial moments. Fielding is where we are lacking. The attitude in the field is lacking. Guys will have to buck up now big time. The energy is not there. Cannot put my finger at anything. The second time they showed how to field. These little things we need to look at as individuals. We have to look at few areas to work on. Yes, obviously losing is not good. Losing close games really hurts you a lot. That's 3 on the bounce. We have to bounce back very quickly."
Time for the presentations.
20:49 IST and 17:19 Local Time | The Sunrisers Eastern Cape came out victorious against the mighty MI Cape Town by a margin of mere 4 runs in a nail-biting encounter.

Coming to bat first, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape lost Jordan Hermann for just 2 runs. The other opener Dawid Malan struggled in the middle and scored 18 runs. Later Tom Abell and Aiden Markram batted well for the orange brigade to help them to get a good total. Abell scored 60 runs off 44 balls while Markram got out for 54 off 32 balls hitting 2 boundaries and 2 maximums. Tristan Stubbs made an useful contribution for his 23 off 13 balls and the SEC side reached 175 for 6.

Nuwan Thushara and Kagiso Rabada took a couple of wickets while Kieron Pollard and Thomas Kaber took one wicket each.

Coming to chase the run, MICT lost the in-form man Rassie Van der Dussen for just 2 runs because of a silly run out. Ryan Rickelton and Liam Livingstone started to put a fightback from that position. Rickelton got out scoring 27 off 20 balls hitting a maximum beside four boundaries. Liam Livingstone batted for 22 balls to contribute 26 runs. Sam Curran was promoted up the order to face the spinners of SEC side and he scored 30 runs off 21 balls with 3 boundaries and a maximum. Kieron Pollard was stabilizing the other end before his dismissal and when Dewald Brevis joined the crease, he joined the party with Brevis. Brevis got out for 26 off 19 balls hitting 3 maximums. Kieron Pollard continued the chase from there and the equation of the last over was 18. Delano Potgieter got out in the very first ball of the over and George Linde came in. Linde had hit a six and a boundary in the first two balls and rotated the strike to Pollard with 7 runs required of 2 balls. Pollard dramatically got run out in that ball and the equation went down to 6 off the final ball and Kaber missed to convert the maximum. Sunrisers Eastern Cape won by 4 runs only.

19.6 D Worrall to T Kaber
1 In the air and safe in the ground and that's the game. Back of a length slower ball into the pitch, Kaber goes inside out over covers and lands in the gap. The ball goes to the long-off fielder for a single to end the over and the match. What a game we have had here and the hosts hold their nerves to win the game by 4 runs.
SIX TO WIN IN THE FINAL BALL!!!! All eyes on Thomas Kaber.

Appeal for run out! And it's the big man Kieron Pollard who is going back. Can you believe it???? OH HO!! It's all happening in Gqeberha
19.5 D Worrall to K Pollard
1W Fuller length around off, Pollard squeezes it away to the midwicket region. They will get a single and might come back for the brace. In comes the throw and Pollard dives to his crease. Run out appeal at the striker's end sent upstairs. Replays are in and the dive does not save Pollard here. They get a single and they lose Pollard as well. 6 needed off 1 ball now as Pollard departs.
The onus shifts to the big man!!!! 7 off 2 balls might be a cakewalk for somebody as powerful as Pollard. Aiden Markram is sharing some advice to Worrall.
19.4 D Worrall to G Linde
1 Short and wide outside off, Linde reaches out and gets it over the point region for a single to get off strike.
Clever from Linde!!!! He is doing it all for MICT here in the final over. 8 required off 3 now.
19.3 D Worrall to G Linde
4 FOUR! Fuller and wide outside off, Linde reaches out and squeezes it away through the point region square of the wicket. The ball races away to beat the fielder and away for the fence for a boundary.
Pollard was the syllabus and Linde comes out of the box in the question paper. It was expected that Linde might go for a single but he goes for the maximum.
19.2 D Worrall to G Linde
6 SIX! Short and wide and in the slot, Linde picks it up and lofts it inside out over extra covers as the ball sails over the fence for the maximum. MI Cape Town are still in the game with that blow.
