Milestone
So that marks the end of our coverage from the 14th match of the ongoing SA20 league between Paarl Royals and MI Cape Town. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal, signing off on the behalf of my co-commentator Akshaya Krishna Polya and Akshay Bhide and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, good night and keep tuned in to our network for coverages of more games across the globe.
Bjorn Fortuin (Player of the Match): "Yeah. Good to get back on track. Especially, after the last defeat. Yeah. Not too happy actually. I would have liked to have some more sticks to my name but we know we aren't playing for individual accolades.

We knew it was going to be a bit slower. It is going to help the slow bowlers. The ball would turn later in the innings and we did well to bowl according to the plan.

(About celebration) There have been a few opinions floating on the social media platforms. I just wanted to shut the noise. We would like to say 'No' but we see it. It's nice to play in front of the home crowd and get the win."
Player of the Match: Bjorn Fortuin
David Miller(Paarl Royals Captain)- "I want to see how this injury stays tomorrow. It is my calf which is hurting.

I am happy with our win. The boys played really well and good to see Jason Roy get some runs. We wanted to bat and we got a good total on the board.

We were really consistent with the bowling. I think we should be more consistent with batting too and then we will win more matches.

I just said this is a lovely win in the dressing room after the win(laughs). The performance should be consistent and we should come lively in every game. That is the main thing."
Kieron Pollard (MI Cape Town Captain): "Obviously, I feel we didn't stick well with the bat. 160 on that track was a good total. But we didn't do well with the bat despite our bowlers doing well.

Bowling with the brand new ball and two fielders outside the circle, you expect them to come out hard. But we did well to pull back things and we were happy with 160 on this track.

If you look at any stats, you have a look at the strengths, weaknesses. The thing is if you make any decision and it goes against you, everyone turns up to speak against you. But our bowlers did well in the end and even if you ask me, I'll make the same decision again.

We play again on Tuesday at our home ground. They played well today. It happens in cricket. We have to move forward. It's one of those days when we didn't quite turn up with the bat. But we have to move forward quickly. That's what professional sport is all about."
22:31 IST and 19:01 Local Time | The Paarl Royals have showed complete dominance over their opponent MI Cape Town and got a comprehensive victory by 59 runs.

oming to bat first, the Paarl Royals got off to a flyer start. Thanks to some blistering hitting by the English duo, Jason Roy and Jos Buttler. The opening duo added 60 runs without losing any wicket inside the powerplay. Together they helped their team to reach the 100 run mark inside 11.4 overs and brought up their century partnership. After stitching a partnership of 116 runs off 79 balls, Jason Roy perished scoring 68 off 46 balls with 8 boundaries and a maximum. After that the MICT bowlers came back tremendously and checked the runs. Jos Buttler and David Miller duo added just 24 off 24 balls in their partnership and Buttler departed scoring 54 off 42 balls with 5 boundaries and a solitary maximum. David Miller batted well for his 24 off 20 balls but suffered some injury issue in his calf and decided to get retired hurt. Fabian Allen(0), Mitchell Van Buuren(8) and Andile Phehlukwayo(2) didn't contribute much for the Paarl Royals and they finished on 162 for 3.

Nuwan Thushara and Thomas Kaber were the wicket takers. Thushara removed Buttler and Allen in consecutive balls and Kaber broke the 116 run opening stand of Buttler and Roy.

Coming to chase the run, the MICT side fell in deep trouble losing Rassie Van der Dussen and the youngster Dewald Brevis in the very first over by Bjorn Fortuin. Later they lost another in-form man, Ryan Rickelton cheaply for 6. From there, Connor Esterhuizen and Sam Curran tried to steady the ship but they slowed up the run rate a lot. Esterhuizen got out scoring 32 off 36 balls hitting 3 boundaries. Sam Curran batted 27 balls and struggled throughout to manage only 18 runs. Liam Livingstone tried a bit for them to score 22 runs off 16 balls hitting 2 boundaries and 1 six. Thomas Kaber added 14 runs off 12 balls to the team total to help them reach the 100 run mark and MICT got all out for 103.

Bjorn Fortuin was the star of the bowling, picking up 3 wickets giving just 15 runs away. Tabraiz Shamsi bowled fabulously today and gave a double wicket maiden over to finish with 2 for 11 after his 4 overs. Lungi Ngidi and Obed McCoy also took a couple of wickets each.

The Paarl Royals secured a victory with the bonus point.
THAT'S THE VICTORY FOR THE PAARL ROYALS!!!!
18.2 L Ngidi to K Rabada
W Cleans him up. Ngidi strikes and closes out this fixture. Bowls an off-cutter on the stumps, Rabada's eyes lit up on seeing it full, he swings hard at it but misses it completely and sees the ball crashes on the off-stump. 'You Miss I Hit' stuff from Ngidi. With this, the Paarl Royals beat MI Cape Town by 59 runs and get back to winning ways in the SA20 League 2024.
18.1 L Ngidi to K Rabada
0 Back of a length delivery on the stumps, Rabada defends it in the vacant mid on region and denies the single.
60 needed from the two overs with a wicket in hand for MICT. Lungi Ngidi to bowl out.

17.6 O McCoy to N Thushara
0 Good length delivery a shade outside off, Thushara tries to defend it but gets beaten. Wasn't far away from the off stump.
17.5 O McCoy to N Thushara
0 Length delivery outside off, Thushara backs away and leaves it alone to the keeper.
Nuwan Thushara, the final man walks in with the bat for MICT.
17.4 O McCoy to T Kaber
W In the air and taken. McCoy gets his second. Bends his back and bangs it short outside off, Kaber looks to pull it over mid wicket but is hurried by the pace. He mistimes it in the mid on region where Lubbe settles under this on the edge of the circle and pouches it safely with a reverse cup. The Royals are one wicket away from wrapping up this contest.
