1:52 AM IST: That’s all from this virtual inaugural match of the SA20. The inaugural match of the second season of the tournament was washed out due to rain yesterday, but today at Kingsmead, Durban, we witnessed a run feast, with Durban's Super Giants winning by 11 runs (DLS).

We hope you enjoyed the run feast. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off, joined by co-commentator Anirudh Modi and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. A special mention goes to Arijit Kundu for his initial insights.
Heinrich Klaasen (Player of the Match): "Especially tonight, I successfully selected the bowlers to target, and it played to my advantage. This is something I've relished in the past couple of years when facing me. There are times when it seems like they hesitate to bowl me, and I'm currently capitalizing on that.

During the powerplay, we (Pooran and himself) aim to avoid exposing ourselves too early. Our strategy revolves around taking on the spinners in the middle, adopting an aggressive approach to secure victory during those crucial overs.

I dislike getting out and consider it my duty to see the game through to the end. I was hitting nicely and clean, and hope I will rectify that."
Player of the Match: Heinrich Klaasen
Keshav Maharaj (DSG Captain): "No not the same injury, just felt a little niggle, we will assess it tomorrow and take it tomorrow but I should be okay. I think the guys did really well last year and we are looking forward to replicate that.

It was an amazing performance today and Klaasy was brilliant, giving us a good platform to chase the total down. I don't think any team wants to chase 200, the wicket was really good, we bowled well in patches but we lacked execution and consistency, I think just a bit of rustiness but the players were getting into it.

200 was always a par score here with a wicket like that to chase down in the second innings. I think the plans were really good, it's just about the execution and it was a nice game to set a template for chasing.

Chasing at Kingsmead is always going to be difficult but we have seen some good wickets here and we are happy to get over the line. Thank you very much."
Kieron Pollard (MICT Captain): "Of cours we should win but it was not case tonight. It was a very good game, getting 207 runs in the first innings and it was always going to be a challenge to defend with the shorter boundaries and this being a small ground so the guys were in for a challenge but that's okay.

It was a positive, the way the guys played and went out, they were really good, controlled all the way through, we needed 10-15 runs more on a track like that, but having said that small ground, can't really blame the batting performance.

We got the two big wickets as well but we could not control the flow of runs. There are a lot more positives than the negatives, two games and then we start the home stretch and looking forward to playing those games. Well played from DSG and Klaasen, he has scored a lot of runs and he has been hard to stop for any team."
1:29 AM IST (Friday), 21:59 Local Time: Rain has had the final say in the second match of the tournament as well, but fortunately, we managed to have almost a full game tonight. Heinrich Klaasen’s 35-ball 85 runs overshadowed Ryan Rickelton’s 87 runs as Durban's Super Giants thumped Pollard-led MI Cape Town by 11 runs (DLS), kicking off their second season of SA20 on a high note.

Let's have a quick recap of this clash. Earlier, after being invited to bat first, MI Cape Town got off to a rollicking start as Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton scored at a brisk pace from the word go and added 82 runs for the first wicket, with Rassie departing for 24 runs.

Rickelton continued his carnage and played a scintillating knock of 51-ball 87 runs. Connor Esterhuizen and Liam Livingstone contributed 17 and 25 runs, respectively, while Kieron Pollard scored a rapid and unbeaten 14-ball 31 runs, helping his side post a mammoth 207/5 in 20 overs. Keemo Paul bagged a couple of wickets for Durban's Super Giants, while Richard Gleeson, Keshav Maharaj, and Dwaine Pretorius celebrated a solitary wicket.

In pursuit of a hefty 207 runs, Durban Super Giants faced early setbacks, losing Quinton de Kock and Wiaan Mulder for 5 runs each. Despite these early wickets, Matthew Breetzke and Keemo Paul maintained a brisk pace during the powerplay, keeping the run rate in check. However, straightaway after the powerplay, Olly Stone dismissed Keemo for 15 runs, bringing an end to the budding partnership.

Matthew Breetzke and Heinrich Klaasen initiated the rescue mission, scoring at a rapid pace. Klaasen, in particular, pummeled MI bowlers all around the park, notching up his fifty. However, Sam Curran trapped Breetzke for 39 runs, halting their progress.

Nicholas Pooran failed to make an impact with the bat and departed for 11 runs off 8 balls. Meanwhile, Klaasen continued his onslaught, single-handedly turning the tide of the game. Unfortunately, he couldn't bat till the end, falling prey to Rabada after playing a scintillating knock of 85 runs off 35 balls.

Durban's Super Giants were 177/6 in 16.3 overs when rain arrived at the venue. Due to persistent rain, the match has been abandoned, with Durban's Super Giants winning by 11 runs, according to DLS.

Kagiso Rabada bagged a couple of wickets for MI Cape Town, while Beuran Hendricks, Sam Curran, Olly Stone, and Liam Livingstone celebrated a solitary wicket.

Stay tuned for post-match presentation....
