Nurul Hasan (Rangpur Riders Captain): "Our players did well in this match, the batters played carefully in the powerplay and that's why we managed to post a good total. We gained momentum and scored at a rapid pace in the last three overs. We batted well in the powerplay and bowled well in the powerplay and that's where we got the game. We will try to continue the same in the next match."
Azmatullah Omarzai (Player of the Match): "Yeah, I am very happy with the performance, this is my second player of the match and I am enjoying it a lot. The wicket was on the slower side and we were aiming for above 150-run target. Me and Nabi were trying to stay till the end and hopefully, I did that. Litton Das (Comilla Victorians Captain): "I think it was a good game. I am happy with the boys who played on this wicket as it was a bit difficult wicket to bat on. Our bowlers did a good job till the 16th over but we lost momentum in the last few overs. Hopefully, we will comeback stronger in the next match."
4:26 PM IST, 4:56 PM Local Time: Rangpur Riders thump Litton Das-led Comilla Victorians by 8 runs. A valiant effort by Jaker Ali in the final over failed to seal the deal for his side, falling 8 runs short of the target.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, Rangpur Riders lost Brandon King for 14 runs. Babar Azam and Fazle Mahmud started building the partnership. The pair scored at a brisk pace to keep the scoreboard ticking at a decent pace and added 50+ runs for the second wicket, with Babar departing for 37 runs. Runs dried up in the latter half of the innings and Mahmud tried to accelerate, but in this process, he holed out in deep after scoring 30 runs off 21 balls.
Shamim Hossain and Mohammad Nabi contributed 14 and 13 runs, respectively, but Azmatullah Omarzai's unbeaten 20-ball 36 runs at the cue end of the innings helped Riders post 165/5 in 20 overs. Nurul Hasan also contributed with an unbeaten cameo of 15 runs off just 6 balls.
Raymon Reifer bagged a couple of wickets for Comilla Victorians, while Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Khushdil Shah celebrated a solitary wicket.
In pursuit of 165 runs, Comilla Victorians lost skipper Litton Das for a golden duck in the very first over of the innings. Mohammad Rizwan and Mahidul Islam Ankon started building the partnership in the middle and added 50+ runs for the second wicket, but failed to carry the momentum as Nabi trapped Rizwan for 17 runs and broke the budding partnership.
Following the wicket of Rizwan, Ankon paired up with Towhid Hridoy, and the duo added a 50-run partnership between them, with Ankon reaching his fifty in the process. However, once again, they failed to carry the momentum, as Ankon departed for 63 runs at the crucial juncture of the game, while Hridoy departed for 39 runs in the final over. Jaker Ali played an unbeaten cameo of 4-ball 18 runs but failed to seal the deal for his side as Comilla Victorians fell 8 runs short of the target.
