Match Details
The two batters took their time to get set and consolidate matters with Karnataka on top with the new ball and then slowly opened their arms, Hooda in particular. The 28-year-old showed the full catalog of his shots, cutting, pulling, and driving with power and grace as he reached the individual highest score in competition history against Karnataka. Hooda picked the lengths early and became steadily more aggressive to make the chase seem easy taking his team to the cusp of victory.
For Karnataka, the pick of the bowlers was Koushik (1/28 off 8), but the big disappointment was Vyshak who, bizarrely, kept on bowling short on a placid pitch, with the ball sitting up for the well-set batters. Lamba remained the steady anchor at the other end and would no doubt have learnt a lot from this experience.
Earlier, Mayank Agarwal won the toss for Karnataka and chose to bat first but were immediately put to the sword by some fine, tight bowling from Rajasthan. Aniket Choudhary and Ajay Kookna were the stars with the ball with identical figures of 2/43 from their 10 overs. Karnataka had to rely on a great rear-guard action from Abhinav Manohar (91 off 80) and Manoj Bhandage (63 off 39), the latter creaming it to all corners while the former setting it up as they reached a competitive total.
In the end, though, it was not enough on the face of Hooda’s brilliance. Rajasthan will face another unbeaten team, Haryana, in what promises to be a mouth-watering final.
