That's a wrap up on the proceedings of the 9th game of the Legends League Cricket 2023 where the Southern Super Stars prevailed over Manipal Tigers by a close margin. We will be back tomorrow with more cricketing actions from across the world and across formats in our network.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Ross Taylor (Southern Super Stars Captain): "I mean, I am happy to get the win after getting a slow start to the tournament. It was a slow and tough wicket, but the boys did well to hang on, and Negi did well in the end and deserved the Man of the Match.

We wanted to have more wickets in hand, but Negi and Goswami saw us home in the end. It was getting tricky, but yeah, that is how it goes. We wanted to bat first, but they (Manipal Tigers) won the toss (chuckles).

We are playing back-to-back games, and I think the next one for us is here in a couple of days time. Hope that the wicket gets better and plays well. Dhanyawad! (Thank you)."
Harbhajan Singh (Manipal Tigers Captain): "I think we were 10 runs short. I think we fought well. They played better cricket and Negi played better cricket. Lots of learnings for us and we will get better in the coming games.

I am not one of those captains to say how to play. They must have spoken how to play on that pitch. I think we could have got to 140 by playing smartly, but that happens.

This is cricket and anything can happen. I am happy with the effort that the boys put on. Thank You."
Pawan Negi: "I was just trying to get the job done. It was all about the hope. The dugout had the belief, and so did I. There was a lot of help for the spinners, and it was a tough wicket to bat on. I just tried to stick to my basics. Just tried to attack the stumps and keep wicket-to-wicket as it was keeping low as well as spinning. While batting, just thought to go all out. The shots were delightful as well. Ahhh... The victory came a bit late I feel because we could have won one of the first two games. Thank you."
Legend of the Match Award: Pawan Negi
9:59 PM IST and Local Time: It's time for the post-match presentations.
9:49 PM IST and Local Time: What a terrific low scoring thriller we have had here in Jammu where the match swung from one team to another. In the end, it is Pawan Negi who plays a blinder and gives Southern Super Stars the win by 5 wickets in the final over winning with 2 balls to spare. It was a difficult track and both teams had their moments, but the Super Stars hold their nerves to win and get their first points of the competition.

Chasing a gettable 125 for the win, the Southern Super Stars got off to a steady start courtesy of their openers Jesse Ryder and Upul Tharanga as the openers put on 60 for the first wicket. Both the openers scored 30 apiece. But they soon lost their way in the middle phase on a tough surface. Shreevats Goswami remained unbeaten on 19* off 16 balls. Rajesh Bishnoi scored 11 off 11 balls. But it was Pawan Negi who rose from the ashes and won them the game. His unbeaten 25* off 11 balls which includes his heroics in the final over gave the Super Stars a 5-wicket win with 2 balls to spare. Just one extra given by the fielding side.

The bowlers of Manipal Tigers tried their hearts out and almost defended a low total. Imran Khan picked up a couple of wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Impact Player Praveen Gupta was exceptional with figures of 2/9 in 3 overs. Skipper Harbhajan Singh was exceptional with figures of 1/10 in 4 overs. The pacers went for runs and some tactical errors from Harbhajan as well that took place.

Earlier in the game, Manipal Tigers won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost their openers relatively early. Robin Uthappa barely got to double figures. Hamilton Masakadza scored 26 off 28 balls. Angelo Perera was the best batter on display for the Tigers as he scored 47 off 34 balls. Thisara Perera scored 13 off 12 balls. 5 extras given by the fielding side as the Tigers ended with 124/9 in 20 overs.

Abdur Razzak was the pick of the bowlers for Southern Super Stars with figures of 2/18 in 4 overs. Johan Botha playing his first game of the tournament finished with figures of 2/22 in 4 overs. Pawan Negi picked up a couple of wickets in his only over he bowled. A wicket for Ashok Dinda as well at the top. All in all, a great performance from the Super Stars to win the game in the end.

Southern Super Stars win this game by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare to climb upwards in the table. They are off the mark finally in this tournament. Stay tuned for the presentations.
Pawan Negi finishes things off in strike and the Super Stars snatch a win out of nowhere.
19.4 T Perera to P Negi
6 SIXXXXX!!!!!!!!! Pawan Negi has done it for Southern Super Stars! Thisara Perera has failed in defending 16 off the last over on a tough pitch. Pace on and fuller lengths, really poor bowling from the former Lankan cricketer. The Ex-RCBian has sealed the deal for the chasing side with 5 wickets and 2 balls to spare!

Fuller-length delivery outside the off-stump. Right in the slot for Negi, who is already deep in the crease waiting for it. The southpaw clears his front leg, sits down on one knee and hacks it from the sweet spot, and sees it sail in the night sky towards mid-wicket.

High and handsome to break the winning streak of the Tigers and give the Super Stars their first-ever win in this competition. No any better feeling than walking off the field after hitting the winning runs for your team!
Oh, my word! This is getting interesting. 6 needed off 3 balls.
19.3 T Perera to P Negi
4 FOUR MORE!!!! Negi is playing a little blinder here! Fuller-length ball angled across wide outside off. Negi is deep in the crease and stretches to reach for it as he throws his hands at it and gets a thick outside edge again. It flies again in that gap between short third man and the keeper for a boundary.
10 needed off 4 balls. Pawan Negi keeps his side in the game.
19.2 T Perera to P Negi
4 FOURRRR!!! Edged but safe for a boundary! Slower off-cutter on a length outside the off-stump. Negi again clears his front leg and throws the kitchen sink at it for a heave. Gets the outside edge that flies past the keeper to his left for a streaky yet a handy boundary.
14 needed off 5 balls.
