This also brings an end to our coverage of the 27th game of Super Smash 2023-24. For now, this is me Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Karthik Raj and scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma.
Tom Bruce (Player of the Match): "It was a new-ball wicket. Was just managing to get through that. The way they bowled up front, full credit to them. We were able to quicken up at the end but just one run short. Hopefully, the Firebirds can do a job for us. Just unfortunate we have gotten ourselves in this situation. We have probably thrown away a couple of games. Cricket is a funny game and hopefully the cricket gods can be in our favour."
7:31 Local Time and 12:01 IST: The match is tied. How often do you see this in a T20 game. There will be no super over in this case and the match will end as a tie. Both the teams will share the points. A mad game for the spectators as well.

Put to bat first, the Otago batters did a decent job in the powerplay and did not lose any wicket. The 46 run stand from the debutant Luke Georgeson and Hamish Rutherford was cut short by Tom Bruce.

Dean Foxcroft batted well at 3 and scored 42 off 32 balls but was not supported well by the other batters. None of the other batters got going. Thorn Parkes did spend some time on the pitch and scored 25* off 27 balls which helped the Volts to post up 139 in their 20 overs.

With the ball, the bowlers were clinical for Stags and made full use of the conditions. The pitch was surely not a batting wicket and was on the slower side. Jayden Lennox was the pick of the bowlers for Stags as he ended with the figures of 2/13 in his 3 overs.

Coming to the chase, the Otago bowlers were excellent with the new ball and picked up 3 wickets inside the powerplay. Jacob Duffy was at his peak today and he ended with the figures of 2/14 in his 4 overs.

With the bat, the Stags' top order was dismissed cheaply and were in some early trouble while chasing down a low total. Tom Bruce and Doug Bracewell were the top scorers and scored 63 and 30 runs respectively.

Tom Bruce played a brilliant knock but was dismissed in the last over. 3 off 1 was needed in the last ball and there was just one run on offer but Gibson could not collect the throw well and that surely has costed the Stags. Stay tuned for the presentations.

W WICKET!! OUT THIS TIME! Yorker angling in, Ajaz comes down the track and tries to flick it through mid-wicket but he misses as the middle and leg poles are disturbed!
A run out check sent upstairs but looks like Patel is safe here.
19.4 J Gibson to A Patel
2 Full and wide of off, Ajaz dabs it behind and gets back for the second run. Looks to be in trouble but the throw from the deep is wide and the keeper can't whip off the bails in quick time because of that. The umpires have gone upstairs.
19.4 J Gibson to A Patel
WD Full and outside the tramline, Ajaz looks to slash it behind point but he misses. WIDE called again.
6 off 3 needed now.
19.3 J Gibson to B Tickner
1 Slower delivery on a length, Tickner works it to long-on for a single.

W WICKET! TWIST IN THE TALE AGAIN! Short of a length and angling away, Bruce gives himself some room and cracks it to cover-point where the fielder takes a sharp catch.
