So that marks the end of our first coverage of the New Year 2024 where the Otago side got the taste of first victory in this edition of Super Smash T20. For now, this is the trio of Saptak Sanyal, Ayan Chatterjee and Hiren Kumar signing off, alongside our scorer duo Ashok Dayma and Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Stay tuned in to our network and enjoy the coverages of more matches across the globe. Wishing you a very happy new year, we are taking your leave.
Dean Foxcroft (Otago Volts Captain): " Yes great to get the win in the end. It was close but we are happy that we got over the line in the end. It was a good bounce back. I think I played well. My role was to bat through and almost did it. But had belief in Trav and White to get it home for us. Happy with the win and glad we got over the line as well. Thank You so much."
Robert O' Donnell (Auckland Aces Captain) - "It was a good game of cricket. A think we could have got more runs on the board. We were out performed in all the three departments.

We got Guptill at the top and we were aggressive in the powerplay but we need to be smart in the middle. Nice to be back here and we jump on to our next game quickly. Yes, the energy in the field is brilliant. Luke Delport was brilliant with the ball. We fought well till end."
Travis Muller (Gamechanger of the Match): "Yes, obviously great to be out here and do well for the boys. Glad to get the win. Getting the best balls and getting slower balls and yorkers in as well. Just did my stuff and backed my skills. Backed myself with the bat as well. Always a pleasure to contribute to the team and do well for them. Happy and relieved to get the win in the end."
11:49 IST and 19:19 Local Time | The Otago Volts have secured a victory with 2 balls and 3 wickets remaining over their opponent, the Auckland Aces.

Earlier coming to bat first, the Aces got off to a shoddy start losing Martin Guptill for just 7 runs. But after that, Sean Solia and Cole Briggs took the charge. Solia got out for 20 and Briggs scored 15 runs only. Skipper Robert O'Donnell came to bat then and played a slow innings of 35 off 38 balls. William O'Donnell, Cam Fletcher and Danru Ferns got out cheaply in the lower middle order. The birthday boy, Ben Lister scored a quickfire 16 off just 10 balls to ensure his tem reaches 150 run mark and finish on 151 for 9 after the 20 overs.

Travis Muller and Jake Gibson took three wickets each and Andrew Hazeldine, Jacob Duffy and Ben Lockrose took a solitary wicket each.

Coming to chase the 152 run target, Jake Gibson got out for duck. But Hamish Rutherford started taking on the bowlers and scored 32 runs off 18 balls before getting out. His skipper Dean Foxcroft gave him the required company and he ended up scoring a half-century and got out for 51 off 39 balls. Max Chu and Dale Phillips failed horribly in the middle order and that gave the Volts some trouble. But Llew Johnson and Ollie White contributed well with the bat and White remained unbeaten on 22. When the going got tough, Travis Muller came to bat at number 9 and contributed 17 runs off 10 balls to ensure his team go past the finishing line.

For the Aces, Louis Delport took three wickets and Danru Ferns took a couple of wickets. Ben Lister and Sean Solia took a wicket each.

Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
