So that’s that and it’s the Hubli Tigers that have secured a win by six wickets as the Bengaluru Blasters still remain in the quest for their first win of the tournament.
Opting to bat first, the Blasters scored a first innings total of 188-5 from 20 overs of play. Bhuvan Raju 6 (3) was dismissed in the first over by Vidhwath Kaverappa but it was the duo of Mayank Agarwal 68 (38) and Nischal 54 (42) that strung a stellar 122 run stand which got their side to a solid platform.
The Blasters skipper looked at his best again as he struck three fours and six sixes while batting at a strike rate of 178.95. Just when Agarwal was looking to take the momentum further forward, it was KC Cariappa who struck by getting him out-caught. Cariappa was quick to strike once again as he got the better of the well settled Nischal in the same over to get his side back in the game.
Shubhang Hegde 29 (18) continued his good run of form with the bat and played a breezy cameo to eventually get his side to a total worth defending.
For the Tigers, it was Cariappa who stood out courtesy his spell of 3-31 from four overs.
Talking about the run chase, it was an underwhelming start to the innings for the Blasters as they dropped the dangerous Mohammed Taha in the first few overs of the game. Taha then went on to demolish the Blasters bowling line up with his scintillating and quick fire 66 (35). The specialist opener struck five fours and five sixes with a strike rate of 188.57 to give his side the edge.
