The Lions were able to post 176 runs on the board thanks to crucial knocks from skipper Gopal and Manohar. Defending their total, they struggled initially but got wickets at the top. Later, they were hammered around in the middle overs. It looked like, the Lions were going to suffer a defeat, but some tight bowling in the death by Sharath, and Koushik ensured that the Lions win this contest by nine runs.

After opting to bowl first, the Dragons were able to keep it tight for the first three-quarters of the innings. However, they could not close out the innings well with the ball and were hammered around. Coming in to chase a stiff target, the Dragons had a decent start but lost wickets in clusters which pushed them on the back foot. Joshi (50) and Siddharth (46*) rose to the occasion for the Dragons and started to breathe fire into this run-chase.
The duo stitched an 83-run partnership and helped their side get into a commanding position to win this contest. However, the duo was slowed down in the death over. Joshi lost his wicket in the penultimate over, and Siddharth despite sticking around till the end could not get the Dragons across the line.
With that, the Lions bag their first points of this tournament. The Dragons register their first defeat.
