Milestone
A Bangladesh victory to remember for ages. They won a game against India in the Asia Cup after nearly a decade. Shakib Al Hasan and his lads will be flying home with smiles as this marks their journey in the ongoing competition.

India on the other hand will be tempted to come out for one last time in the Grand Finale at the R. Premadesa. They are going to face Sri Lanka, the defending champions on their own yard on September 17.

So, this is it from the coverage space. It's Arijit Kundu signing off on behalf of esteemed co-commentator, AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stick around to this network as a lot of international and State franchise action rolls your way.
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain and POTM): "Yes (chuckles). We wanted to give the guys who haven't played so far in this tournament a go. We wanted to see what combination would work for us. In the last game, the spinners were doing well and hence opted for a few in the playing XI and luckily, it went our way.

I was not batting well until this point in this Asia Cup but wanted to contribute to the team. It was a tough wicket to bat on with the spinners getting a lot of help. When I hit my first boundary, it felt good. As the ball got older, it became difficult to play against the spin.

When Mahedi came into bowl, it was not easy to bowl. He asked for a bowl five straight overs in the end. I also want to give credit to Tanzim Hasan Sakib. We have got a good team for the World Cup. We had a lot of players getting injured, a lot of players coming and going during this tournament which never helped us."
Player of the Match: Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan signs the match ball and follows it with collecting the winner's check.
Maximum Sixes of the Match: Shubman Gill (5 sixes)
Smart Catch of the Match: Rohit Sharma (to take the catch of Mehidy Hasan Miraz)
11:18 PM IST and Local Time: Let us shift our focus onto the post-match presentations...
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Pretty straightforward logic, you know, we wanted to give some game time to the players. Looking at the bigger picture, it was necessary to give the guys some game time. Not at all compromising on how we wanted to play the game. It was very much necessary to get in some players who are likely to play in the World Cup.

Axar Patel batted brilliantly but unfortunately for us, he couldn't finish. He showed a lot of character but credit goes to the Bangladesh bowlers.

Definitely not to forget Shubman Gill's hundred. It was brilliant. He backs his game, he knows how exactly he wants to play and pace the game. Very clear in his mind and knows what he wants to do for the team. Just look at his form for the year and the past. It was been just brilliant. Solid against the new ball, works extremely hard and there are no optional practice as well."
Tanzim Hasan Sakib: "Yeah, first wicket, Rohit bhai was my dream wicket, you know, my debut wicket. I just concentrated on bowling on the right lines and lengths.

Always prepared to bowl longer spells. In the death overs, I thought of bowling the slower balls. But with 8 runs needed in the last 2 balls, I thought of pace on the ball and yorker length. Executed well and happy with this win against India.

Now we are going back home but the win has been a good one. I bowled the perfect ball and it is a happy feeling."
Earlier Bangladesh Piled up 265 runs on the back of a 101 runs fifth wicket stand between Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy. The pair of Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami opened the bowling for India and quickly pushed the Tigers on the back foot. They were three wickets down for just 28 runs and it started off with Shami cleaning up Litton Das in the third over.

Shakib soaked up the pressure and played a matured innings of 80 off 85 balls. He mixed up citation with aggression and was supported by Hridoy in the rebuilding job. The duo negated the spinners and pacers well during this phase and approached calculatively.

Right after the second Drinks Break, Shardul Thakur broke the partnership as Shakib chopped one back to the stumps. It was followed by Shami removing Hridoy in quick time. Just when India would've thought to capitalize on the moment, Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan came out of the syllabus. The duo jolted a quickfire of 44(45) and 29(23)* respectively to steer the Bangladesh side to a total of 265 runs in 50 overs.
11:05 PM IST, Local Time: A hard-fought victory for Bangladesh and their first one in the Super Four stages. Bangladesh finishes off the Asia Cup with some pride. India are already into the final and can soak the positives from this trial and test.

The last time when Bangladesh won against India in the Asia Cup, it was in 2012. Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian Legend and the Master Blaster scored a ton in that game. Nearly a decade later, the Tigers beat the Men in Blue in the Asian competition and this game witnessed a century from Shubman Gill.

Bangladesh bowlers were brilliant in the second innings. The spinners coupled up brilliantly with the pacers. Be it the initial overs, the middle phases, or the slog overs, they were spot on.

In pursuit of the tricky chase, India lost their in-form captain early to the debutant, Tanzim Hasan Sakib who expressed it as a "dream wicket". The Bangladesh seamer did not just stop there. He went on to dismantle the other debutant- Tilak Varma, in no time.

Shubman Gill and KL Rahul took their time to settle down the situation and nudged around for a while with some late strokes. No sooner did the fifty runs stand come up, than pressure mounted up on the Indian batters. Rahul was facing a lot of dot balls and in an attempt to break the shackles, the Karnataka-based batter threw his wicket away.

The Bangladesh spinners- Shakib, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were regulated brilliantly throughout the middle overs. Ishan Kishan was not allowed to settle in and Suryakumar Yadav who arrived at no. 6 did not last long with his frequent sweep shots.

Gill fought along falling short of partners. Jadeja stayed for a brisk period without helping much and was cleaned by Mustafizur Rahman. However, Gill went on to notch up his fifth ODI century and scored 121 off 133 balls. He failed to finish the job, holing out in the deep some overs before the limit.

India batted deep on this day and Axar Patel succored with Shardul Thakur coming in charge of the finishing task. The Gujrat-based cricketer perfected the timely slogs and found the fours and sixes every now and then. But it did not last long as India succumbed under the pressure in the chase.

With 17 runs needed from the final 2 overs, Mustafizur Rahman removed Thakur and Axar to curtail things down to 12 needed from 6 balls. After three misses from Shami, he picked the fourth slower one and fetched a four. But the fifth ball saw the final nail in the coffin after Shami failed to make home in an attempt to run a double.

That should be a run out as Shami was yards away from reaching the crease. He wanted the second run but not the quickest of all between the wickets.
49.5 Sakib to M Shami
1W That is the end of India in this dead rubber! They have fallen short of the target by 6 runs! Bangladesh finish the tournament on a high despite having to fly back home before the finale. Yorker length at the middle and leg. Shami digs it off the inside half of the bat towards deep backward square leg. One run has been completed but Shami calls for the second, which was not on. But in order to have the winning chance, they needed to head back for the second. Tanzid in the deep collects the ball and throws towards the keeper, who removes the bails with Shami nowhere in the frame.
One variation too many from the bowler. Shami waited this time and got it in the gaps. 8 runs needed off the final couple of deliveries now.
49.4 Sakib to M Shami
4 FOURRRR!!!! This time connects and connects well. Fuller-length ball outside off. Again a slower one and Shami is onto it in a flash. He clears his front leg and hacks it over mid-wicket. Bisects deep mid-wicket and long-on comfortably keeping the hopes of India alive.
12 needed off three balls now. Three slower ones from Tanzim and Shami doies not connect all three of them.
49.3 Sakib to M Shami
0 Another big swing and a miss! This is a mastercraft from the debutant. Slow on the middle stump line and Shami misses the big slog to the keeper as it bounces over the stumps.
