Milestone
That will do us for this game and time to wrap things up. Don't go too far away. We have the Melbourne Derby coming up for you next in WBBL 2023. Switch tabs to catch all the action from there. For now, Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Beth Mooney (Player of the Match): "I can assure you it wasn't as easy as I apparently made it look. I've always known a talent named Edgar. I think she's come in leaps and bounds this year. And Chloe Ainsworth, isn't she a real talent? Young, runs in, bowls fast, and absolutely loves a wicket, so I get a bit scared at the wicketkeeping end when she's charging for me.

I really struggle against her (Edgar) in the net, so I don't like facing her too much. But, yeah, she's been outstanding for us this season. She'll have pretty big highlights."

Player of the Match: Beth Mooney.
7:50 AM IST, 1:20 PM Local Time: So, that's the end of the game. Perth Scorchers secure a clinical 42-run win over Sydney Thunder and go top of the table in this 1vs2 clash. They may have lost the toss but played better than Thunder in all facets of the game to win the game easily in the end. Thunder will go back to the drawing board and come back stronger.

Chasing 160 for the win, Sydney Thunder lost wickets at regular intervals and were never really in the chase if we are being honest. Chamari Athapaththu got to 10 before she got out. The others fell away. Phoebe Litchfield stood tall and top scored with 45 off 38 balls. Sammy Jo Johnson scored 34 off 33 balls. But the rest of the batters did not get to double figures. 10 extras given by the fielding side as Thunder ended with 117/8 in 20 overs.

Amy Louise Edgar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/18 in 4 overs. Chloe Ainsworth was impressive as well with figures of 2/8 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets for Sophie Devine while Alana King picked up one wicket to get to 100 WBBL wickets. A clinical display by the Scorchers in the end. Piepa Cleary bowled a decent economical spell.

Earlier in the day, Perth Scorchers were asked to bat first by Sydney Thunder. They lost skipper Sophie Devine early. But it was the Beth Mooney show as the southpaw carried his bat to score an unbeaten 101* off 61 balls. She held the innings together single-handedly. Piparo scored 22* off 16 balls in the end. 10 extras were given by the fielding side as Perth Scorchers finished with 159.4 in 20 overs.

Hannah Darlington was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/26 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Chamari Athapaththu and Lauren Smith as well. They bowled well, but they did not have any answer to the brilliance of Beth Mooney.

So, a win by 42 runs as Perth Scorchers climbs to the top of the points table with this win.
