16:21 IST and 21:21 Local Time | That's a wrap from our coverage of the 16th match of the WBBL 09 between Adelaide Strikers Women and Brisbane Heat Women where Adelaide Strikers defeated their heavyweight opponent by a margin of 59 runs. Brisbane Heat loses their first match of this season.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off alongside my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and our scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. Don't go anywhere. Switch the tabs to follow our exclusive coverage of the Cricket World Cup match between India and England.
Bridget Patterson(Player of the Match)- "We didnt take that as a challenging one. We played better from this type of situations and had that in our mind. We just wanted to work together. After drinks, we got a few loose balls and completely took that on and that helped us. The wicket was definitely challenging, it was not a very easy track to bat on. I had a good partnership with Madeline and that went well for us. I am enjoying my job behind the stumps, I can stay always in the game. I think it is easy to affect a few dismissals behind the stumps."
4:09 PM IST, 21:09 Local Time Deepak: The defending champions, Adelaide Strikers Women have put a brake on the 4-match winning streak of Brisbane Heat Women. Adelaide Strikers Women won by a massive 59 runs to register their third win of the season in 5 matches.

Earlier, after deciding to bat first, Adelaide Strikers Women got off to a shaky start as they lost three wickets for just 44 runs by the 9th over of the innings. Bridget Patterson and Madeline Penna started the rescue mission for the defending champions, and the pair went on to add 100+ runs for the 4th wicket, taking their team out of a precarious situation. Patterson registered her highest score in the WBBL and departed after contributing 70 runs off 53 balls, while Penna remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 29 balls, helping her side post a decent 148/4 in 20 overs. Nicola Hancock and Jess Jonassen shared a couple of wickets for the Heat Women.

In pursuit of 148 runs, Brisbane Heat lost Georgia Redmayne for a duck in the first over. Grace Harris and Georgia Voll started building the partnership, but their progress was halted by Jemma Barsby, who trapped Harris for 15 runs and ceased the budding partnership. She was soon followed by Voll in the next over, and it triggered a collapse for the Heat Women as they started falling like nine pins and were bundled out for a mere 89 runs, falling 59 runs short of the target. Jess Jonassen was the highest scorer for the Heat, contributing 22 runs to the scoreboard.

Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington shared three wickets for the Strikers, while Anesu Mushangwe, Jemma Barsby, and Tahlia McGrath contributed one wicket to Heat's downfall.

So, the winning streak of Heat Women has been halted by the defending champions. Brisbane Heat Women will look to bounce back strongly in the next match, while the Strikers will aim to carry the momentum in the upcoming matches.
