It was a used pitch today and that's why we batted. We assessed the conditions and knew it could turn as well. I had 7 options today, but 5 options were enough today and glad we got the win. Wanindu Hasaranga (B-LOVE KANDY Captain): "No actually, we were looking to bowl so toss didn't play any role here. It was the third game on the same pitch and we didn't know about the wicket and the ball was gripping off the surface, we lost wickets at crucial times."
Babar Azam (Player of the Match): "We just planned and tried to build a partnership. The pitch was two-paced and my job was to build partnership and take the game deep after 15 overs. When I started playing two balls that this pitch is not ideal for stroke play. The rest of the boys did well and glad to win this game tonight."

11:05 PM IST & Local Time | Deepak: Colombo Strikers bounced back strongly after their last game defeat and managed to defend 157 runs to grab their first points of LPL 2023. They thump B-LOVE KANDY by 27 runs and open their winning account.
Earlier, after deciding to bat first, Colombo Strikers posted 157/6 at the end of 20 overs. Their innings was anchored by Pakistani batter Babar Azam, who held his wicket from one end and contributed 59 runs but was a bit slow in the process as he played 52 balls to score 59 runs. Nuwanidu Fernando contributed 28 runs off 31 balls. Isuru Udana bagged three wickets for B-LOVE KANDY, while Mohammad Hasnain contributed a couple of wickets.
In pursuit of Strikers’ 157 runs, B-LOVE KANDY got off to a shaky start as they struggled to score runs at the beginning of the innings and lost three wickets in a jiffy. Thanuka Dabare, Dinesh Chandimal, and Kamindu Mendis were all dismissed, leaving B-LOVE KANDY struggling at 40/3 by the end of the powerplay.
Angelo Mathews and Ashen Bandara tried to steady the sinking ship, managed to hold the wickets for a few overs, and started scoring at a brisk pace, but their progress was halted as Mathews departed for 25 runs, and following the wicket of Mathews, B-LOVE KANDY lost a flurry of wickets and were found reeling at 93/7 in the 14th over. Sarfaraz Ahmed batted till the end, but the right-hander never found his rhythm and scored just 16 runs off 31 balls. Eventually, B-LOVE KANDY were restricted to 130/8, falling 27 runs short of the target.
On the bowling front, Matheesha Pathirana bagged three wickets for Colombo Strikers. Naseem Shah and Jeffrey Vandersay chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed one wicket to Kandy's downfall.
