It will be a holiday tomorrow before the finals kick off on Friday. Brisbane Heat will lock horns against the Sydney Sixers at the Carrara oval in Queensland in the Qualifier where the winner will directly qualify for the final.

Do join us for that exciting clash. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Wali Siddiqui and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Bye Bye.
3:03 PM IST, 8:33 PM Local Time: There you go. The match has been abandoned. The match officials have decided to call off the game. It continues to rain here in Sydney and the match has been abandoned. Shaun Marsh was supposed to play his last professional game but the rain gods had other ideas and the game was washed out.

What a tame end to this last league fixture. The rain has the final say and both Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades share a point each. With this, the Sydney Thunder are the wooden spoon holders of Big Bash League 2023-24. The Melbourne Renegades, meanwhile, finish above Thunder at the seventh position.
3:02 PM IST, 8:32 PM Local Time: The umpires are out there in the middle, having a chat with the head of the groundstaff. It is still raining and an official word might be just around the corner.
2:44 PM IST, 8:14 PM Local Time: According to the Sydney Thunder Twitter handle, the next inspection will take place at 8:30 PM Local Time (3 PM IST).
2:25 PM IST, 7:55 PM Local Time: The cut-off time for the match to start is 9:20 PM Local Time (3:50 PM IST). The groundsmen need some time to prepare the surface ready for play. For that, the rain must stop by 8:35 PM Local Time (3:05 PM IST).
2:15 PM IST, 7:45 PM Local Time: The rain is persistent here in Sydney as the covers stay firmly in place. Not good signs here.
2:03 PM IST, 7:33 PM Local Time: Nothing new to update. It continues to pour down at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Let's hope it clears soon πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€žπŸ»
1:31 PM IST, 7:01 PM Local Time: The rain has eased out and the umpires are out there in the middle, having an inspection. The fourth umpire is seen with an umbrella as the players are moving around. The pitch though remains under covers.

Let's hope we have some action tonight as this will be the last time that we will be seeing Shaun Marsh in the BBL.
1:04 PM IST, 6:34 PM Local Time: It is raining heavily in Sydney and the pitch is under covers. For now, the bat flip has been delayed.

Head-to-Head: From the previous five clashes between the two sides, it’s Sydney Thunder that has had the upper hand with four wins. Whereas, the Melbourne Renegades have managed to secure just one win in the process.

Pitch Report: Surprisingly, it’s the spinners who have had more of a say here in contrast to the usual fast-bowlers with the nature of the wicket being towards the slow side of things. The batters can find it challenging to tackle and a score of anything in excess of 150 could be considered good enough.
12:45 PM IST, 6:15 PM Local Time: As we head towards the concluded stages of this season’s Big Bash League, it will be Sydney Thunder that takes on the Melbourne Renegades up next. Both sides have had a poor season as they dangle right at the bottom of the points table with no chances of qualifying into the top four.

Considering that both sides were two of the teams to beat last season, the Thunder and Renegades will have to go back to the drawing board in order to return with a bang in the next campaign. With both teams having nothing to play for, we can anticipate a more fearless and free-flowing approach that can lead to an exciting affair.

To guide you through the course of the game, it will be the commentary team of Wali Siddiqui and Akshay Bhide who will be your hosts. Meanwhile, Manish Bishnoi will be in charge of the scoreboard.

Probable XI of Melbourne Renegades: Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Jordan Cox (wk), Jonathan Wells, Will Sutherland (c), Akeal Hosein, Tom Rogers, Fergus O'Neill, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa
