How about that for a complete performance and dominance? The only woe would have been the Indian batters- Gill, Kohli and Shreyas missing out on their respective hundreds. This is cricket, and that is how it goes. The batters got runs, and then the seamers wrapped it up in a quick time. India won 7 out of 7 and moved to the top of the points table, and became the first team to qualify for the semis.

Tomorrow, it's Netherlands vs Afghanistan in Lucknow. We will meet again. Until then, it's me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Sidharth Gulati, who, alongside our scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Raju Khariya, brought you all the live-action of this India dominated game from Wankhede! Cheers!

Shubman Gill: "Our batting has been doing well but our bowlers have been doing a fine job. They have been restricting the opposition teams to low total and making our life easier. The way they were bowling, there wasn’t much conversation. We were anticipating a wicket on each ball. But the way they have been bowling, it was great to see.

Siraj is always fired up and it was good to see him.

I wouldn’t want to say that I’m nervous while walking out to bat. I try to play each ball by merit. I lost about 5-6 kgs due to dengue but I’m still down in terms of weight and muscle mass.

The discussion was to play as compact as possible. There wasn’t much pace from the wicket. There was some seam movement. We decided not to get in the shell and try to put pressure on the bowlers whenever we can.

When you see Virat bhai not converting twos into threes, you know it’s hot (laughs).

I got starts in the previous games but I failed to convert them into big scores. Once you got that start, we just thought about rotating the strike and after I got to 30-40, I let my instinct take over.

I honestly don't think this was a 400 wicket. We batted well to get to 350 and Shreyas played really well in the end to get us to that total.

(On Shami's celebration) Shami was pointing towards our bowling coach. He doesn’t have any hair on his head and it was to Paras Sir."

Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yeah. Very happy that we have officially qualified for the semi-finals now. When we started in Chennai, this was our first goal. But how we approached these seven games, it was clinical.

It was a good challenge to bat first and put runs on the board. That's exactly what we did today. You want to score as many runs and 350 is good on any surface and credit to the seamers then the way they bowled.

Yes. Shreyas, as far as i know him, is a very strong lad. Very strong in his mind. He did what he is capable of today and we saw it. He has been working hard in his game. Siraj, obviously, another quality bowler. If he does that, things look different for us. He can swing the ball and get the ball to come back in. We are very happy with how the squad has performed. Even Surya for that matter, he also stepped up the last game and scored crucial runs.

It is pleasing to see the bowlers' performances. Just show the quality of the seamers. If there are any conditions for the bowlers, they will extract it. With the seam-up delivery, they keep delivering for us.

I have left the drs to the bowler and the keeper. I'm not in a good position to make a call. I guess I have left it to the individual who I can trust. It was 50-50 today where we got one right and one wrong.

South Africa are playing some good cricket. It's going to be a great spectacle for the fans around the world and in Kolkata and they will enjoy the game."
Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka Captain): "Yeah, of course, I am very disappointed with our batting and also with myself. Their guys bowled brilliantly, they swung and seamed beautifully. We couldn't really play to our potential.

I really can't say that one in words (on the decision during the toss). The pitch was on the slower side early on, which is why I wanted to bowl first, and our bowlers bowled pretty well. Madushanka and Chameera bowled well to start with, but Shubhman's chance and Virat's chance weren't taken, and then the game changed a bit. Everyone bowled well in the middle overs.

They bowled really well with the new ball. Bumrah, Shami and Siraj, all of the fast bowlers, bowled well. The first six overs were excellent from their bowlers.
Need to give credit to their fast bowlers.

We have two more matches. Bangladesh and New Zealand are our opponents. We need to make the most of it and will try to come back stronger."

Mohammed Shami (Player of the Match): "First of all, I would like to thank the almighty. All the pacers are working really hard in practice. We are enjoying each other's success and we are getting the results.

I'm trying to bowl in the right areas. Just hit the right lines and lengths and if you execute it, you will get seam movement.

It's important to have the rhythm. If you bowl in the right areas, you will get seam movement and especially, with the new ball, you will get the swing.

There is no rocket science. Recover in time. Eat good food. And above all, it's the love that we receive from the fans. Whenever we play away from home, the fan support has been incredible and I would like to thank all the fans and keep supporting us."

8:33 PM IST and Local Time: Kusal Mendis called it right at the toss but only to make the wrong decision, inviting India to have a bat on a belter of a track at Wankhede in front of the Sea of Blues! Rohit Sharma and Co. have just annihilated Sri Lanka by a massive margin of 302 runs! India stay unbeaten with 7 wins out of 7 and propel back to the top of the points table, becoming the first team to make it to the semi-finals officially.

Dilshan Madushanka bowled his heart out with the new ball and uprooted the off-stump of the man in form and the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (4 off 2) on the second ball of the match. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli did survive a few early scares to set a strong foundation for the rest of the batting line-up. Gill (92 off 92) and Kohli (88 off 94) added a mammoth partnership of 189 runs for the 2nd wicket before both the Prince and the King fell in their respective nervous 90s and 80s courtesy of Madushanka again.

KL Rahul (21 off 19) and Shreyas Iyer stitched 60 runs for the 4th wicket, but Dushmantha Chameera removed the former only to see Iyer slamming the Lankan bowlers and entertaining his home crowd with a plethora of biggies. Shreyas Iyer fell in the 80s as Madushanka came again in the way of an Indian batter trying to break the jinx of the 100 in this game.

Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply, but Iyer (82 of 56) had a 57-run stand for the 6th wicket, along with Ravindra Jadeja, who stayed till the end, scoring a handy 35 runs off 24 balls before getting run-out in the last ball of the innings, with India posting a mammoth total of 357/8.

Madushanka was simply brilliant and got to his fifer, finishing with figures of 10-0-80-5, while one more wicket was taken by Chameera, with a couple of the Indian batters getting run out in the last over.

Jasprit Bumrah set the tone in the first ball, trapping Pathum Nissanka dead in front of the stumps before Mohammed Siraj ran through the Lankan top order in a blink of an eye. Mohammed Shami came in as the first change bowler, but Sri Lanka didn't get a moment to breathe as Lala continued his sensational form picking wickets for fun. Shami took his second fifer in this tournament and also became the highest-wicket taker for India in the history of the World Cups.

Only Angelo Mathews (12 off 25), Maheesh Theekshana (12* off 23) and Kasun Rajitha (14 off 17) got to the double figures, with Sri Lanka getting skittled out for just 55 in 19.4 overs. For India, Shami was the successful bowler with figures of 5-1-18-5. Mohammed Siraj finished with 7-2-16-3, while Bumrah (5-1-8-1) was the one who started the Lankan collapse. Kuldeep Yadav bowled two overs for nothing, while Ravindra Jadeja came into the attack in the 20th over and wrapped the Lankan innings with his fourth ball of the match.

India have completed a thumping victory over their neighbours, becoming the first team to qualify for the last four.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!
