9:58 PM IST, Local Time | The World Cup 2023's race for the top 4 spots is gathering steam and the Kiwis have made a statement start to the tournament with today's victory! Join us back tomorrow for the big day! It's India vs Pakistan!

Until then, this is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Ayan Chatterjee, and our scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Raju Khariya! See you on the next one!
Kane Williamson (New Zealand Captain): "Not a lot, got a little bit fat and colourful initially and it made batting tough but hope to recover soon. Haha, the knee is great but from a team perspective it was an excellent performance. The guys went hard early and really hit the surface hard and that gave us results while we also had good partnerships to claim the victory.

The spinners was quite difficult to maneuver at time with the slight variability but I told the side we need to build bigger partnerships and yeah we executed it well. Seam bowlers were fantastic today, on a pitch that favors the spinners, the seam attack bowled exceptionally.

It was nice to be out there and be a part of nice partnerships and play through the hard period when the ball getting stuck. Like I said great performance. He is a great competitor and he has come in and made big contributions and today was great, he has been a team guy and a great player to watch."
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh Stand-in Captain): "Shakib has going for scans and after that we will know what is up with him.

To be honest, we batted poorly especially first 10-15 overs and we have to improve a lot. I don't think so.

Wicket looked good. After that there was extra bounce but all in all, the wicket was good. We need to bat responsibly and bat well the first 10-15 overs. Then we will do well.

The seam bowlers bowled well and they were impressive to say the least. The fast bowling department looks good and we have to bat well in the first 10-15 overs to give our bowlers a chance to win the game or compete.

The batting is letting us down and hope we can improve in the coming games."
Lockie Ferguson (Player of the Match): "Yeah. Look it was a classic team effort from the BlackCaps. We bowled really well and kept them under constant pressure before the batters came out and chased down the total.

It certainly had more bounce than Hyderabad. I tried to push the batters back while bowling.

It's early stages in the tournament but really happy to get three wins in a row. But it's still a long way to go.

Haven't played here much but was good to see the extra pace and bounce on the wicket. We have Afghanistan next and will look to step up."
Player of the Match: Lockie Ferguson

9:39 PM IST, Local Time | Daryl Mitchell leads his team to their third victory from as many games in this World Cup! They outclass Bangladesh by a convincing margin of 8 wickets, outclassing their opponents in all 3 departments of the game today!

New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first,
and the decision paid off. Trent Boult provided the perfect start with Litton Das' dismissal for a golden duck on the very first ball of the game and Bangladesh lost 3 further wickets for a low score as the scoreboard read 56/4 after the first hour of the game.

Mushfiqur Rahim and skipper Shakib Al Hasan joined forces to stabilize things for a while as they established a 94 run-stand to keep Bangaldesh hopes alive. An unforseen injury for Shakib saw his movement restricted and after a couple of boundaries his stay at the crease ended.

Rahim and Mahmudullah carried on the mantle, as the keeper-batter registered a total of 66 runs from 75 balls to score back-to-back half-centuries in this World Cup. While the latter, provided the late innings charge with an unbeaten 41 runs off 49 balls pushed Bangladesh to a total of 245/9 from their 50 overs.

Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers as his express pace got him the figures of 3/49 from his 10 overs. While Boult and Henry chipped in with a couple of wickets each.

Come the chase, Bangladesh were off to a dream start. With the pitch assisting the pacers, they broke the opening partnership early by dismissing Rachin Ravindra with 12 runs on the board. However, Kane Williamson and the others had different ideas.

First it was the Kane-Conway partnership that entered into a period of consolidation and played through the toughest period to stitch together a crucial 80 run-stand to lay the foundation of victory. Captain Williamson on his return carried on with Mitchell after Conway missed out on his half-century.

The duo of Williamson-Mitchell took the game away from Bangladesh as their partnership brought the Kiwis to the brink of victory before Williamson got copped on the left thumb and had to retire hurt shortly after.

The story of the day was Kane Williamson's return to Cricket after a lengthy lay-off and the skipper gave his fans a day to remember with 78 runs off 107 balls to step-up when his team needed it the most. Daryl Mitchell on the other hand was the enforcer who upped the scoring rate with an excellent unbeaten 89 runs off 67 balls to help his team cross the finish line!

New Zealand make it 3 wins in 3 games and sit comfortably at the top of the table and well on their way to qualify for the knockouts! Bangladesh on the other hand will go back to the drawing board and identify improvements from today to turn things around.
Akshay: There it is. Daryl Mitchell finishes things in style. He remains unbeaten on 89.
