That’s a wrap from our side as well. We appreciate your participation from all across the world. On behalf of my co-commentator Prince Suman and Scorer/Analyst Ashok Dayma, I, Deepak Prakash, am signing off. Please join us for the other fixtures across the world. Until then, Ta-Ta, Bye-Bye.
Dilpreet Singh (Player of the Match): "Firstly, I would like to thank my team for their support. I also want to express my gratitude to the coach who gave me the opportunity, and I proved myself. Yes, our plan was to rotate the strike and take singles and doubles, which helped us in winning the match."
Chris Lynn (Montreal Tigers Captain): "Yeah, they are well-classified players but I think we kept our plans simple and execution wasn't too far behind it. Yes, we were in a bit of a stripe at one point there but they kept cool calm, and collective there and I think that's a huge confidence moving ahead in the tournament. We would like to carry the momentum to Sunday's game."
Iftikhar Ahmed( Surrey Jaguars Captain): "Yes, it was a bit challenging to face the bowlers while we were batting. The ball was sticking and coming slowly off the pitch. However, we made quite a few mistakes, and we could have scored 160 plus. As you rightly pointed out, the drier the wicket, and with the moisture present in this pitch, batting becomes easy, and that gave them an advantage."
4:25 AM IST, 6:55 PM Local Time | Deepak: Carlos Brathwaite finishes things in style. Montreal Tigers kick off their G20 campaign on a high note, as they thumped Surrey Jaguars by 5 wickets in their inaugural match.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Surrey Jaguars posted 138/6 at the end of 20 overs. Jaguars batters struggled to score runs at a brisk pace, and it seemed the wicket was not easy to bat on. They lost wickets in quick succession at the beginning of the innings, but Iftikhar Ahmed batted till the end and helped his side post a respectable total. Iftikhar played a few big shots but struggled to time the ball on this tough surface. The Pakistani veteran batter managed to score 40 runs but played 44 balls to get there. Dillon Heyliger contributed 18 runs off 16 balls to Jaguars' total. On the bowling front, Shakib Al Hasan shone with the ball for the Montreal Tigers, as he bagged three wickets and gave away just 18 runs in 4 overs.

In pursuit of the Tigers’ 138 runs, Jaguars didn’t get the start they wanted as their openers struggled to time the ball initially. Chris Lynn, after a shaky start, managed to find his rhythm but couldn't capitalize on it as he departed for 22 runs off 15 balls. Shakib Al Hasan joined Muhammad Waseem at number three, and the southpaw started scoring at a brisk pace and helped his side post 54/1 at the end of the powerplay. However, Shakib’s innings was abruptly halted by Nepali leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who trapped Shakib for 26 runs and ended his short cameo.

Waseem struggled to find his rhythm and eventually holed out in deep for 12 runs. Dilpreet Singh and Dipendra Singh Airee paired up in the middle, and the duo kept the scoreboard ticking at a decent pace. The pair took the game too far from the Surrey Jaguars and gorged a 50+ runs partnership for the 5th wicket. However, Dipendra couldn't bat till the end and departed after scoring 28 runs. The big-hitting Carlos Brathwaite took charge, smashing back-to-back sixes to seal the deal for the Tigers. Dilpreet Singh remained unbeaten on 28 runs, guiding the Tigers to a convincing victory over the Surrey Jaguars.

On the bowling front, Sandeep Lamichhane bagged a couple of wickets for Jaguars. Bernard Scholtz, Pargat Singh, and Iftikhar Ahmed contributed one wicket. Stay tuned for the presentations.
