That's it from the second semi-final of the T20 Blast 2023. Don't go too far away as the final is on its way. Switch tabs to catch Essex vs Somerset in the grand finale of Blast 2023. Until next time, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and Cheers!
Chris Jordan (Surrey Captain): "I think if we are honest with ourselves then we know where we lost the game. I thought we did really well with the ball. However, when we began our batting, it seemed that we couldn't find our rhythm. If we had managed to establish a solid partnership, we would have come close to securing victory.

I extend my best wishes to the finalists. I am incredibly proud of our team. We have remained committed to our style of cricket, which emphasizes being both amicable and aggressive while also employing strategic thinking. Although we may be disappointed, we will use this experience as motivation to bounce back stronger. We have made it one step closer to this year, will lick our wounds and come back stronger."
Lewis Gregory (Somerset Captain): "I think, the boys were phenomenal. Defending 140 odd was a tremendous effort. I felt we were not too far away from a par score. 150 would have been par I guess. The kind of calibre of players we have, makes my job easier. Lucky to have this bunch of boys and looking forward to the final now."
Craig Overton (Player of the match): "It's always nice to get into the final, but there's still one more game remaining. Our priority now is to successfully complete the task at hand. The batters expressed that the pitch had inconsistent behavior, so we focused on hitting the ball forcefully onto the surface. We must be cautious of the opposing team's capabilities, as they possess a potent batting lineup and excel in bowling."
Craig Overton has been named the Player of the Match.
10:43 PM IST, 6:13 PM Local Time: A disciplined bowling performance matched by excellent fielding sees Somerset defend a paltry score and win the game by 24 runs. They advance to the finals and will face Essex later on tonight weather permitting in Edgbaston.

Chasing 143 for the win in a game reduced to 19 overs due to rain, Surrey never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals playing some careless shots. Jason Roy and Jamie Smith got to double figures before giving their wickets away. Tom Curran showed some fight with his 22 off 15 balls. Jamie Overton got 11 while Chris Jordan got 16 off 14 balls. But these scores were nowhere near enough as Surrey were bowled out for 118 in 16.5 overs. Just 1 extra was given by the fielding side.

All the Somerset bowlers were disciplined with the ball and did not let their opponents get away. Craig Overton led the way with figures of 3/24 in 4 overs. He was ably supported by Matt Henry who got 3 wickets for 19 runs in 3.5 overs. Ben Green is their leading wicket taker this season and he chipped in with 3 wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. The other wicket fell to Ish Sodhi who finished with 1/31 in 4 overs. They did the job for Somerset.

Earlier in the game, play was delayed due to rain and match was reduced to 19 overs a side. Somerset put into bat by Surrey got starts but never kicked on to a big total. Tom Banton scored 26 off 20 balls. Will Smeed scored 21 off 14 balls. Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Abell got into double figures. Dickson remained unbeaten with a valuable 30* off 22 balls while Matt Henry chipped in with a crucial 14* off 14 balls. 6 extras were given by the fielding side as Somerset ended their 19 overs at 142/7.

Sean Abbott was the star of the show as he was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/23 in 4 overs for Surrey. A wicket apiece for Sam Curran, Gus Atkinson, and skipper Chris Jordan as not  a single over was bowled by a spinner in this innings. The bowlers did a decent job, but were let down by the batters today for Surrey as they bow out of the competition.

So, Somerset advances to the final to play Essex thanks to a 24-run win over Surrey here in Edgbaston.
