Milestone
That is it from this tournament for the season. Congratulations to Ratnagiri Jets. I am AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and our scorer/analyst Chandan Kr Singh who brought you all the live-action of this rain-interrupted final. We will meet again in the next game. Until then, it's cheers!
Azim Kazi receives the Trophy and now the Ratnagiri Jets players will come together posing for the photograph.
Azim Kazi (Ratnagiri Jets Captain): "First of all thanks to all of those who have supported us to achieve the feat. The owners, support staff and the fans as well. It has been an incredible tournament. We would have loved a full final but it is how it goes with the rainy season. We have played a great brand of cricket over the weeks and this has been a magnificent tournament for all of us. Great work from the groundstaff and we will hope for another brilliant MPL next time. The celebration will go on and this is a great achievement from the group."
Kedar Jadhav receives the runners-up trophy.
Kedar Jadhav (Kolhapur Tuskers Captain): "Definitely, the rain has had the final say. Even the Jets players would have loved a full game. That is why it is important to win games during the league stages. This MPL has been a huge success. I want to thank the President and all the other dignitaries. I want to appreciate the work of groundstaff, and thank all the staff who made this league a success. The fans were great. Without them, we couldn't have gotten this far. I will thank all the fans for their support. They have come in good numbers and have supported their respective teams. Next year we will have even more fans coming to the stadium. The night games will be more next season I feel and it will definitely help the fans coming into the stadium."
Orange Cap: Ankit Bawne of Kolhapur Tuskers (366 runs in the tournament)
Purple Cap: Sachin Bhosale of Puneri Bappa (14 wickets in the tournament)
4:23 PM IST | The post-match presentations are on it's way now...
4:17 PM IST: Ratnagiri Jets players walk towards the hard-working groundstaff and appreciate them for the work they have done throughout the tournament.
4:00 PM IST | Big news coming from the middle. Due to intense rain, this final match has been abandoned. And as per the rules, the team that finished in first place in the points table will be crowned champions. Ratnagiri Jets, the first-ever Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) CHAMPIONS.

After a full washed-out day yesterday, the final was postponed to today. The Jets won the toss and opted to bowl first. Amidst the match getting interrupted several times, the Jets' bowlers had complete control of this final. Apart from Kedar Jadhav (32) no one really stood tall for the Tuskers and were reduced to 80/8 in 16 overs before the rain hit hard for the third time on the reserve day. Kunal Thorat scalped two wickets in the Powerplay, while Pradeep Dadhe (4-0-24-3), Nikit Dhumal (4-1-12-2) and Vijay Pawale (2-0-8-1) completely destroyed Kolhapur Tuskers.

Once the rain came back for the third time, the game didn't get a chance for any further resumption and as per the norms, the Jets were crowned champions of the inaugural MPL.
3:15 PM IST | It is pelting down again. The covers are firmly in place. This is getting worse as the day is progressing.
3:09 PM IST | We can see a few movements on the field. A super sopper is moving around. Looks like the rain has stopped. It will take some time before the groundstaff make the outfield ready to play. Still overcast!
2:55 PM IST | Ahhh... Nothing new to update. Rain is falling and we are waiting.
2:24 PM IST | Hang on! The drizzle is back on.
2:18 PM IST | Some movement in the ground now. Super sopper is moving around and a few groundstaff are chipping in as well. The rain has eased out as of now. It is still pretty dark overhead.
2:06 PM IST | The wait continues. The covers are firmly in place. Dark clouds are overhead and it is not looking great for the cricketing fraternity.
1:33 PM IST | This is not good for a final. Third time today after the toss, the rain has interrupted the game. The covers are coming in and the players are going off the field. This final gets dragged on more and more now. Tuskers are in a heap of trouble losing 8 wickets for just 80 runs in 16 overs.

15.5 P Dadhe to K Wadekar
0 Short of a length in the channel. Extra bounce creates some trouble. The batter does well to play it with soft hands and was on his toes while riding it. He cannot control it anyway as the ball keeps raising. The ball loops off the top edge but falls way short of the fielder at cover.
