That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer Bishal Mandal. Bye Bye. Good Night.
Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match & Australia Captain): "It was nice. Always nice to start the three-match series with a win. A lot goes into it. I was off due to an injury for a long time and it was nice to get back on the park.

I thought Tim David was fantastic. The way he batted, he took pressure off me. I played Test cricket recently and I couldn't hit sixes at the end. So I have to work on him.

Sangha was sensational. We have seen what he can do in the Big Bash and really stepped up. Wasn't playing yesterday. Zampa fell ill and Sangha got a chance and bowled brilliantly."
Player of the Match: Mitchell Marsh
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Yes, the wicket played really well. Around 200 was gettable. We were outplayed in all three departments and we are playing after a long time. We were rusty today. Not an excuse, I am giving but we were good in patches but not good enough. We want to give chances and be competitive but we were not good enough at all to be honest. Let's hope we can put this behind us and come back strong in the next game on Friday."
12:57 AM IST, 9:27 PM Local Time: Time for the post-match presentation.
12:49 AM IST, 9:19 PM Local Time: That’s it. A solid all-around effort from Australia sees them beat South Africa comprehensively by 111 runs. This is Australia's biggest win over South Africa in T20Is. The tone was set by the batters by posting a mammoth total on the board before their bowlers backed it up by bowling beautifully and defending it successfully. With this, they take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

It was always going to be a tough task to chase 227 and South Africa didn’t have the best of starts as Temba Bavuma was cleaned up on a duck in the very first over by Marcus Stoinis. Rassie van der Dussen joined Reeza Hendricks and looked settled at the crease before falling on 21 as the Proteas finished powerplay on 53/2.

Hendricks looked good at the crease but he lacked support from the other end as debutant Tanveer Sangha spun a web around the South African batters in the middle overs. He dismissed Aiden Markram (7), Dewald Brevis (5) and Tristan Stubbs (0) in quick succession. Marco Jansen along with Hendricks tries to build a partnership but the former was cleaned up on 20.

Hendricks brought up his fifty and was the lone fighter with the bat for the Proteas. He fell on 56 and the hosts were knocked over on 115 to lose the game by 111 runs. Sangha starred with the ball for Australia on his T20I debut. He registered figures of 4/31 in his four overs. Marcus Stoinis also picked up three wickets. Spencer Johnson grabbed two scalps on his T20I debut as they displayed a dominant performance with the ball.

Earlier, Australia were asked to bat first and they lost Travis Head on six on the third ball of the innings. Skipper Mitchell Marsh joined debutant Matthew Short and both played some scintillating strokes to give their side a flying start. Short along with Marsh put 63 between them off just 28 balls before the former fell on 20. The visitors ended the powerplay, with the scoreboard reading 70/2.

The Proteas pulled back things post-powerplay. They dismissed Josh Inglis (1) and Marcus Stoinis (6) in quick succession. Tim David joined his skipper and both started building a partnership. Both pounced on anything loose and scored at a brisk rate. Both brought up their respective fifties. The pair put 97 between them off just 52 balls for the fifth wicket.

David hit seven boundaries and four maximums to score 64 off just 28 balls before holing out in the deep. Aaron Hardie played a good cameo of 23 off 14 balls at the fag end of the innings. Marsh remained unbeaten on 92 off 49 balls to power Australia to 226, the highest total in T20Is at this venue. His knock comprised 13 fours and two sixes. Lizaad Williams for South Africa picked up three wickets.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
