11:47 PM IST: That's it. A brilliant run-chase by the Nellai Royal Kings as they beat the Salem Spartans by five wickets on the DLS method. It looked like they were falling behind the required run rate but Laxmesha Suryaprakash played a sensational cameo of 32* off 14 balls to take the Royal Kings across the line with two balls to spare.
The second innings was reduced to 16 overs and the revised target for the Royal Kings was 129. Skipper Arun Karthik fell on a golden duck and R Sri Neranjan struggled for timing early on. He departed on 14 but G Ajitesh looked solid at the other end and played some wonderful strokes. He hit five boundaries and a six to score 39 off 31 balls before falling in the 11th over.
Laxmesha Suryaprakash walked out to bat at seven and changed the whole complexion of the match. He kept his cool in crunch situations and hit some lusty blows. He hit two fours and three maximums to remain unbeaten on 33 off 14 balls to help the Royal Kings chase down the total with two balls to spare with five wickets in hand. Abhishek Tanwar grabbed two wickets for the Spartans but they were unsuccessful in defending the total.
Earlier, the Spartans were asked to bat first and Kaushik Gandhi played a fantastic knock He held the innings nicely from one end but lacked support from the other end. He scored 51 off 43 balls before getting dismissed in the 12th over. S Aishiek (12) and Muhammed Adnan Khan (10*) were looking solid in the middle before the rain arrived and the innings came to an end, with the Salem Spartans score reading 115/4 after 16 overs. Lakshay Jain S bowled beautifully for the Royal Kings and finished with figures of 2/17 in his two overs.
