Milestone
That concludes our coverage as well. It was a Cornwall show here at Kensington Oval, and I hope you enjoyed the run feast and our coverage. It's time to say goodbye. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, and scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. CHEERS!
Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals Captain): "It was an excellent feeling. We got off to a great start and that made it easier. I thought they were 10 runs short. I expected him to give us a start. But the longevity of it surprised me. Credit to him. Yes, not a 220 pitch, we bowled badly and bowled at the wrong areas and we need to bowl better and improve in the areas. We need to improve on these areas and come back stronger and I have got the experienced players. I went with instincts and Cornwall did well with the ball as well. It was his day. I am trying my best to do well and make a conscious effort to do well and entertain everyone out there. Happy with the win and hope to carry this forward by improving in few areas here and there."
Sherfane Rutherford (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Captain): "First, I want to thank God for the opportunity. I think when you play on a good wicket, get it with matches. I would say we actually kind of lost it when I dropped Cornwall on 45. But having said that, I didn't think we stick to our plan for too long. But, you know, as I said, on a good wicket, you don't want to give batsman chances. So I think it's just for us to come again. 220 is a good score, but as I said, catches with matches.

[Speaking about Cornwall] Well, we know that if he doesn't get him out in the powerplay, he's going to score runs. But I think he played exceptional innings. We have a few days. Just stay positive.
That's the most we can do, stay positive. Nothing is guaranteed, so we just need to keep a good mindset and stay together and anything can happen. There's nothing more to lose, so you just need to go out and be as free as possible."
Rahkeem Cornwall (Player of the Match): "Yes, the pitch was really good and I batted really well out there. I dedicate my innings to my two sons. I always back myself to give the team a good start and glad I did that. They keep me going and help me stay in the moment. After the halfway stage, I wanted to go big and it was special. Thanks for the support and thanks to my family for all the support I received. Thank you so much."
9:16 AM IST, 23:46 Local Time | Deepak: "C for Cornwall, C for Carnage." If you missed this match then you must be wondering what I want to convey. 🤔Well, well, well, it was Cornwall Carnage here in Kensington Oval, as the big man wreaked havoc with the bat, notching up his century and helping the Barbados Royals chase down a mammoth 220 runs with ease. A total of 443 runs were scored in 38.1 overs tonight, making it a forgettable night for the bowlers.

Earlier, after deciding to bat first, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots posted a mammoth 220/4 in 20 overs. They got off to a solid start as both their openers, Andre Fletcher and Will Smeed, took the bowlers to the cleaners from the word go and forged 115 runs for the first wicket, providing a solid foundation for the upcoming batter. Fletcher contributed 56 runs off 37 balls, while Smeed contributed 63 runs off 36 balls. Sherfane Rutherford took responsibility for scoring at the cue end of the innings and the southpaw wreaked havoc with the bat and played an electrifying knock of 65* off 27 balls, helping his side post a mammoth total. Cornwall bagged a couple of wickets for the Royals, while Brathwaite celebrated a wicket.

In pursuit of the Patriots’ mammoth 220 runs, the Royals got off to a rollicking start. Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall didn’t waste any time and unleashed their inner beauty from the word go. Mayers departed after a short cameo of 22 runs. Cornwall paired up with Evans and unleashed his absolute beauty, smashing the bowler to the left, right, and center of the park. The pair glued together a partnership of  86 runs for the second wicket. Evans contributed 24 runs off 14 balls.

Cornwall continued his carnage and went on to notch up his century, celebrating his century by dropping his bat vertically. He was supported by skipper Rovman Powell, who didn’t waste any time and scored at a rapid pace from the word go. Just after completing the century, Cornwall had to walk back to the pavilion as he was feeling a bit uncomfortable and got retired hurt for 102 runs. Powell remained unbeaten on 49 runs, helping his side chase down 220 runs with 11 balls to spare.

The Patriots' bowlers failed to defend a mammoth total and their losing streak continue. Corbin Bosch and Dominic Drakes were the only bowlers to extract a wicket.

So, the Royals win by 8 wickets with 11 balls to spare. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation and captains' speaking.đź—Ł
