Milestone
That's all from this game of CPL 2023. We will be back with more cricketing action from all around the world soon across formats in our network. Until next time, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Megh Mandaliya alongside scorer/analysts Vishnu Verma and Chandan Kumar Singh. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals Captain): " To be honest, I am struggling. But hopefully it subsides and I can play. Time is not on my side as we are playing after 48 hours. The talk has been brief and short. Focus on the areas. We are not bad cricketers overnight. Someone needed to stand up and we did that. The bowlers were good today. Jason was good and so were others. We were happy chasing 160 odd. Alick has been special and talent as well. Hopefully, West Indies can harness that talent as we have failed to do that. We had to improve 10-15% performance from last night and glad we did that in the end. Let's rest and come back stronger in the next games over the weekend. Happy with the win. Thank You man."
Brandon King (Jamaica Tallawahs Captain): "It's just a part of the tournament. We are not going to win every game. We will look into the areas we can improve on. The batting has been a concern for us in the past few games and I will take responsibility for that. I thought it was a decent wicket and we were about 10-20 runs short. You have to give the bowlers the credit. The ball was very wet in the second innings. They tried their best on this surface. Excellent innings from Shamarh Brooks. We were in a bit of trouble, and he came in, took his time, and had an explosive end to his innings, which really put us in a good position."
Alick Athanaze (Player of the Match): "It was pretty special to be honest coming after a loss. It was really good to get the team over the winning line. It was a bit slow at the start but you can always catch up at the end. It was a good wicket to bat on and get some runs. I think it was really about choosing the bowlers, knowing your options, and picking who to really go against and Evans did that brilliantly. I would not say it was challenging. Having a great skipper like Rovman Powell, he always keeps the guys motivated. He is very easygoing and very positive."
Alick Athanaze is the Player of the Match.
8:02 AM IST, 10:32 PM Local Time: So, an impressive win for the Barbados Royals as they win this game by 6 wickets with an over to spare over Jamaica Tallawahs. After losing badly yesterday, the Royals have bounced back to win this game to stay alive in the competition.

Chasing 161 for the win, the Royals lost Kyle Mayers early in the piece as he struggled out there. Rahkeem Cornwall his opening partner struggled for his 17 off 15 balls. Laurie Evans played a good hand scoring 30 off 26 balls. But it was all about Alick Athanaze who shone through with his brilliant 76 off 48 balls as this was his first CPL fifty ever. In the end, it was Rovman Powell and Jason Holder who took their side home remaining unbeaten on 10* and 9* respectively. 15 extras contributed to the score as well by the fielding side.

The Tallawahs bowlers started well, but could not contain the batters in the end. Chris Green was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21 in 4 overs. A wicket for Salman Irshad and Imad Wasim but they went for runs. Mohammad Amir went wicketless but kept it tight in his 4 overs. He was unlucky not to get a wicket to his name.

Earlier in the game. Jamaica Tallawahs were asked to bat first by Barbados Royals. Brandon King their skipper fell early. Alex Hales scored 12 on his CPL debut while Kirk McKenzie did not trouble the scorers. But it was Shamarh Brooks who stood tall amidst others struggling and scored 78 off 41 balls as he top scored for his side. Raymon Reifer scored 16 off 20 balls while Imad Wasim chipped in with 33 off 24 balls. 9 extras given by the fielding side as the Tallawahs ended with 160/7 in 20 overs.

From the Barbados Royals point of view with the ball, Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/19 in 4 overs. Qais Ahmad went for runs despite picking a couple of wickets for 42 runs. A wicket for Kyle Mayers who bowled a miserly spell of 3 overs and 8 runs and a wicket for Roelof van der Merwe. The bowlers did well to restrict their opponents to 160 and then they chased it down with an over to spare.

So, a win for Barbados Royals over Jamaica Tallawahs by 6 wickets with an over to spare to climb upwards in the points table. Stay tuned for the presentations.

18.6 S Irshad to J Holder
4 FOUR! There are the winning runs. Deftly played by Holder and he finishes the contest in style. Back of a length delivery outside off with some extra bounce on offer, Holder stays on the backfoot and opens his blade at the very last moment to guide the ball over the short third man for a boundary. This has been a good comeback from the Barbados Royals after an unsettling defeat last night. They defeat the defining champions by 6 wickets with one over to spare.
Rovman Powell is limping here. He may have pulled up his hamstring.
18.5 S Irshad to R Powell
1 Short of a length and outside off, Powell hangs back and slaps that to long-off for a single.
18.5 S Irshad to R Powell
4wd FOUR WIDES! This is poor bowling from Salman. A wayward delivery down the leg stump line, Powell looks to heave the full toss across the line across the line but misses that. The keeper also fails to collect that as a bunch of extras are added to the total. Crucial runs for the Royals.
18.4 S Irshad to R Powell
4lb FOUR LEG BYES! Everything is going the Royals' way now. A low full toss darted on the leg stump line, Powell clears his front leg and looks to hoick that across the line but wears that on his pads as the ball beats short fine leg and races away for a boundary.
18.3 S Irshad to J Holder
1 A well-executed yorker on the middle stump, Holder looks to dig that out but gets the inside edge onto his pads that rolls behind the stumps for a single.
18.2 S Irshad to J Holder
4 FOUR! A courageous shot from Holder and he gets off the mark with a boundary. Fuller and on the woods. Holder advances down the track and lifts that over extra covers as the ball races away for a boundary after a few bounces.

18.1 S Irshad to A Athanaze
W IN THE AIR AND CAUGHT! Salman Irshad strikes at a crucial juncture and starts the penultimate over with the massive wicket of Athanaze. Back of a length delivery and angling into the middle and leg stump line, Athanaze stays deep inside the crease and looks to hoick that across the line but the southpaw gets the top edge as the ball sails up in the air and goes straight into the hands of Hales at deep fine leg. Athanaze departs after a fantastic 76.
19 runs are now needed off 12 balls. This can still go either way one feels. Salman Irshad will bowl the 19th over.
