This turned out to be a spectacular game with lots of twists and turns and eventually it was the Barmy Army that secured the win.

Let's hope for more such game as we head forward. Until then you do take very good care of yourselves as this is Wali, Saipavan and Ashok signing off!
Lauren Winfield-Hill (Captain of Barmy Army): "It was a proper team performance. We got a few more runs than we did yesterday. The way we batted and bowled, it was a complete team performance. I think that's the way I've played, to take the game on, the powerplay is an important part of the game to take the tempo forward."
Suzie Bates( Falcons Captain):" Yeah Barmy started well with the bat, we bowled well. We also got the fly start but we lost the wickets afterward. I think we lost the wickets after the 10 overs and they implemented slow balls very tough to play on this surface. Not an easy wicket but got the brilliant start with the openers and lots of positives from this game will back in the next one"
Laura Cardoso (Player of the Match): "I'm really happy that I've done what I needed to do. It's been a journey to be here and I'm pleased with the effort."
Time for the post-match presentation...

So that’s the end of that and it's the Barmy Army who have secured a spectacular win from the jaws of defeat by nine runs against the Falcons!

After being put to bat first the Barmy Army got off to a solid start as they scored 50 runs from the 5.3 overs. Although Deandra Dottin found it difficult to get her innings going, it was the skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill who made sure that the scoreboard kept ticking at a quick pace. Winfield-Hill struck a valuable knock of 54 (35) and provided the rest of her batters with the platform to score big.

Nigar Sultana also displayed great character out there in the middle while coming in at number four as she powered her way to a well constructed knock of 40 (32). Kavisha Egodage’s 17 (18) and Shemaine Campbelle’s 10 (12) also contributed to the Barmy Army getting to a score of 143/6 from 20 overs.

For the Falcons, it was Chamari Athapaththu who constantly chipped in with the ball in hand as she bagged four scalps for just 17 runs in four overs.

The run chase started off in perfect manner for the Falcons. The opening duo of Danielle Nicole Wyatt and Chamari Athapaththu stormed their way to a 77 run stand from just eight overs. Wyatt powered her way through 38 (21), whereas, Athapaththu got smashed her way to 44 (33).

But that’s when Laura Cardoso came in to dismiss Wyatt off her first over after she ended up skying it to the fielder at long-off. Theertha Satish 5 (7) and didn’t have much to offer as Rumana Ahmed got the better of her.

However, the biggest blow came when Athapththu got caught at long-off with Cardoso doing her magic yet again as she bagged her second wicket which had a significant say in the grand scheme of things.

The score was 94/3 in 11 overs and it still seemed that the Falcons were the favouries to go over the line.

But the wickets kept tumbling soon after as Suzie Bates 4 (9), Maring Lamplough 11 (19), Marizanne Kapp 0 (4), Christina Gough 1 (5), Mas Elysa 4 (8) and Sornnarin Tippoch 0 (2) walked back to the hut courtesy some terrific spin bowling complimented by some great fielding that got the Barmy Army the all important win!

Kavisha Egodage topped the charts for her side with her spell of 3/17 from four overs. Meanwhile, Rumana Ahmed bowled a spell of 3/23 from her four over spell. However, it were the two valuable wickets of both the openers by Laura Cardoso that truly got the Barmy Army back into the game and eventually got her side the deserving points.
