That also wraps up our coverage of the 15th fixture of the Lanka Premier League between Dambulla Aura and Galle Gladiators from R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Tugral Azmi, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav.

The tournament has now entered the business end as it’s only a matter of days before the Final takes place. Join us tomorrow for yet another doubleheader. Goodbye for now!

Dasun Shanaka (Dambulla Aura Captain):  “We gave our hundred percent today and the boys prepared well leading up to today’s game. We were mentally prepared as well for this fixture. Cox and Daniel were outstanding today.”

Kusal Mendis (Galle Gladiators Captain): "I'm fine, and the injury is alright. We lost two wickets early despite the excellent wicket, which is why we were out so quickly. Today's batsmen struggled at the plate. We have a chance to go to the semifinals in future games. We simply need to stick to our fundamentals."
Jordan Cox (Player of the Match): "Gaining the first victory and contributing today are both positives. Congratulations to Daniel, who batted effectively. It is rather gratifying. Today, we had to express ourselves. There isn't much of a difference between batting at number 3 and starting."

6:33 PM IST | That wraps up the 15th LPL fixture between Dambulla Aura and Galle Gladiators. The Dasun Shanaka-led Dambulla Aura have finally opened their account by tallying a 48-run victory over Galle. With this victory, Dambulla is still alive in the competition and the tournament is wide open now.

In pursuit of 179, Galle Gladiators were off to a sedate start as they lost captain Kusal Mendis for a golden duck in the first over by chipping one straight to mid-off. That was soon followed by another huge scalp of Thanuka Dabare 4(5), who departed in the next over.

Pakistan right-handed Asad Shafiq joined forces with Lahiru Udara to construct a 41-run partnership before Pramod Madushan bamboozled Shafiq 28(14), including 3 fours and 2 maximum with a back-of-a-length delivery. Nuwanidu Fernando, the next man in, echoed his confidence with the bat before being a victim of a mix-up.

The right-handed Lahiru Udara kept rotating the strike but he was lacking a partner as Galle kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Eventually, Udara succumbed to pressure at the stroke of the 12th over and orchestrated a run-a-ball 32, with four boundaries to his credit.

As far as the Dambulla bowlers are concerned, Pramod Madushan spearheaded the bowling attack and attained 3 scalps by giving away 17 runs. The Zimbabwe off-spinner Sikandar Raza captured two crucial wickets at the backend while Dasun Shanaka, Noor Ahmad, Matthew Forde, and Dilum Sudeera all accumulated a wicket each.

Earlier in the day, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Dambulla Aura posted 178/5 on board. Dambulla openers Shevon Daniel and Jordan Cox played single-minded strokes in the first four overs before the duo stitched 17 runs off Nuwan Pradeep’s 5th over.

Since then, the Galle bowlers delivered loose length and the left-right duo of Cox and Shevon kept toiling them. The duo registered a 163-run opening partnership, which was the highest by any Dambulla pair. Nuwan Pradeep finally broke the partnership as Shevon Daniel departed for 80 (55), including 5 fours and 5 maximums, and that was soon followed by another massive scalp of right-handed 77(58), including 6 fours and 3 maximums.

Stick around for the post-match presentation!

19.4 P Madushan to L Sandakan
W BOWLED'EM!!! The sounds of the timbers. Madushan bowls a yorker delivery, right on the money. Lakshan makes room as he tries to drive this through the covers but fails to get any bat on it and the ball rattles the woods after sneaking the gap between bat and pad. Dambulla Aura won the game by 48 runs.
19.3 P Madushan to L Sandakan
0 Full toss, darted on the stumps. Has driven it straight to the man at mid-off.

18.2 S Raza to N Pradeep
W In the air and comfortably taken. Bowls a slower and shorter delivery, outside the off. Pradeep again swings it hard toward the deep mid-wicket region, but this time doesn't generate power. Daniel runs forward settles underneath and grabs a fantastic catch. Raza picks up a second of the night.
