That's it from our coverage of the 1st Pakistan National T20 fixture between Sindh and Southern Punjab hosted by Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. Tune in for another group fixture between Central Punjab and Balochistan, which will begin shortly. See you there!

Saud Shakeel | Sindh Skipper: "A win at the start of the tournament is very important. It gives us confidence. I think we fell short by 15-20 runs due to wickets in the end. The way we batted in the first half, we were eyeing 170. The combination will change as we move ahead in the competition but happy to see everyone step up and contribute to the win."
Salman Agha Ali | Southern Punjab Skipper: "We bowled really well. But we failed as a batting unit and as a result lost the game. The batters will have to spend some time in the morning game. If we bat 20 overs, we will surely chase down the total."
Sarfaraz Ahmed: "After getting set and building a partnership in the middle, we decided to play positively. We looked to score big in the last five but lost wickets in the middle but happy to post a competitive total on the board."
Sarfaraz Ahmed is named the player of the match.
Time for the post-match presentation.
Megh: That brings a close to the opening match of the Pakistan National T20 2022 and Sindh easily gets off the mark. In a match that was dominated by the bowlers, the Sindh came out on top.  After losing the flip, Sindh was asked to bat on a flat track wicket.

In the first innings, Southern Punjab’s bowlers executed their ploys handsomely as they bundled Sindh for only 147 in 19.4 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed 42 (32) bagged the most runs for the Sindh and gave the bowlers something to fight for. It was Southern Punjab’s match before the start of the second innings, but the Sindh bowlers never let them gain the momentum. They attained wickets at regular intervals and bundled the Southern Punjab for only 105.

Their bowling attack was spearheaded by Shoali Khan, who claimed three important wickets and finished with an economical spell of 3/15.
Similarly, Danish Aziz and Zahid Mahmood also grabbed a couple of wickets and played an essential role in today’s encounter for Sindh. Ultimately, Southern Punjab were 42 runs short as Sindh wins the opening encounter of the National Cup 2022 and gains momentum early on in the tournament. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation!
16.4 S Khan to F Akram
W In the air and taken. That's the end of the match and Sindh complete a convincing victory over Southern Punjab by 42 runs. Coming to the dismissal, Sohail bangs it short outside off, Akram hangs back and looks to pull it but ends up getting a top edge and Sarfaraz settles under it and pouches it safely. With this, Sindh kick start the competition on a winning note.

16.3 S Khan to S Gul
W WICKET!!!! Sindh's fielding has been exceptional today. This time Saad with a brilliant catch. Sohail bowls it short on the body, Gul sits back and pulls it high in the air. He gets the elevation but not the distance as Saad out on the deep square leg boundary moves to his left and takes a good catch by diving to his left. Sindh are one wicket away from wrapping this up.
16.2 S Khan to S Gul
0 Khan goes fuller this time and Gul drives it straight to covers. No run.
16.1 S Khan to S Gul
4 FOUR!!! Gul takes the aerial route and collects a boundary. Khan bowls it short outside off, Gul stands stil and lofts it over mid off for a boundary.
