Tugral: So, we are done here with SLC Blues winning the game by 32 runs, as they restricted SLC Greens to a total of 90 while chasing down a total of 122 which proved to be a bit too much for Shanaka & Co. Blues to start the Invitational Cup with a win.
It would not be wrong to say today is a good day for bowling as 38 overs were bowled in the entire match in which 19 wickets were uprooted by the bowlers. Greens have been bundled out on 90 in 18.3 overs, the lowest total in the shortest format. Look away Greens fans as it is a sorry-looking scorecard for the Grees side. Only Shanaka got to double digits as they ended up putting a modest total. Silva struck on the very fourth ball, dismissing Dickewella on a golden duck. Nuwanidu Fernando was dismissed without opening his account in the second over by Dilshan Madushanka. The middle-order faltered as none of the batters adapted to the conditions. They were reeling at 26/4 at the end of the powerplay.
Nissanka along with Shanaka tried to handle the Greens innings but that partnership did not let the Blues bowlers last long. Lakshan caught in his spin and showed Nissanka the way to the pavilion and pushed the Greens to the back foot in the game. W WICKET AND IT ALL WRAPS UP!!! Chamika Karunaratne takes the last one and he gets the job down for the Blues. What a remarkable defense by their team today. This one a bouncer on the stumps, Sandakan chooses the aerial route but gets a top edge and a stunner is been taken there down the ground to dismiss him.
