That's it for the day. This is Ishan signing off with my co-commentator Deepak along with our scorer/analyst Chandan. We will be back with all the live updates but by the time we meet again it's Good Bye from our side.
Roston Chase (Skipper St Lucia Kings): "We didn't get off as we would have liked with the batting. We were around 25 runs short and that cost us the game. These guys (Faf du Plessis, David Wiese, and Tim David) play cricket all around the world, they'll bring experience."
Kieron Pollard (Skipper TKR): "We will take the two points, we want to finish it before the last over but we will take everything into the equation. We haven't played T20 cricket for a while as a group and are happy to have finished on the winning side. We are playing the CPL now, if these players needed a break before, they should've been managed. We have invested a lot in these players as a team and franchise, having said that these are international players, we gave Nicholas [Pooran] a 12-day break to adjust. As a team, we will have to manage them but our main goal is to win the title"
Akeal Hosein (Player of the match): " It's too early to say but finger's crossed hope it is not too bad (about injury) will definitely have a check on it when I get back to the hotel. For me, I am quite flexible where ever skipper wanted me to bowl. I think it was a bit slow to start it didn't spin as sharp as we thought but it was a bit slow."
23.05 IST: That was only the second match of CPL 2022 and Trinbago Knight Riders will start their campaign with a three-wicket triumph over Saint Lucia Kings. That was quite a comfortable chase (despite it went to the last over). Lucia Kings had only made 143 runs on the board with contributions from Mark Deyal (35) and Roshon Primus (38). In reply, Trinbago got a shaky start as Sunil Narine (6) was dismissed in the very first over of the chase, within a couple of overs they suffered another blow in the form of Nicholas Pooran (4). But after that, the opener Tion Webster along with the wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert started taking on the bowlers and put up 81 runs partnership for the third wicket before Webster was dismissed by Kesrick Williams. Soon after his wicket Andre Russell got out as well courtesy of the stunning catch of Leroy Lugg at short mid-wicket. However, Seifert at the other end played a sensible knock of 34 (off 39 balls) along with his skipper Kieron Pollard 17 (off 15 balls) and almost crossed the line for them. But the 19th over bowled by Alzarri Joseph made things interesting again. Joseph scalped three wickets in that over including Seifert's, Pollard's and Prasanna's. Anderson Phillip hit the winning six for them in the last over to pull off the chase for them.
For Lucia Kings, Alzarri Joseph was sensational with four wickets while Jeavor Royal, Scott Kuggeleijn and Kesrick Williams also scalped a wicket each. Hang on for the presentation.
19.2 S Kuggeleijn to A Phillip
6 SIX!! That's it, Riders finished it with a maximum!! Was a fuller ball in the channel, Phillip picks the line of the ball and lofts it straight down the ground for a winning six. They lost 3 wickets in the penultimate over but Phillip finished it with a maximum and TKR thumped Kings by 3 wickets.
19.1 S Kuggeleijn to A Phillip
0 A dot ball to start the last over. Length ball down the leg, Phillip defends it.
