That brings us to the end of our coverage for today. Till the next time, its ta-ta and good-night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), along with my fellow commentator Akshaya Krishna Polya and scorer/statistician Paras Yadav.
Jos Buttler is the Player of the Match: "No not at all. Came into the tournament with a lot of energy. Now with the season I have had it's great to get into the final. Massive (if the 2nd part of the Kolkata innings played a part in the way he played today), obviously I had a tournament of two halves. I had some honest conversations with Sangakkara and Trevor Penny. I was trying to suppress the pressure and it was only a week ago I opened up to them. I went to Kolkata more relaxed. I think I am always trying to play the game, what the game is asking me to do and what skills I have to use on that particular day. On some days I have been slow, I hope that wasn't the case. A younger version of myself might have played a rash shot and got out. I think I came today so excited. Thought of playing in front of 100 thousand people just fascinated us. Incredible stadium and fantastic support. Enjoyed so much today. Great excitement especially after playing in empty stands for such a long time. To be able to have the opportunity to play in the final of the biggest T20 tournament in the world. Shane Warne is such an influential figure in RR circle. He led Rajasthan to a victory in the first season. We miss him dearly."
Sanju Samson | Rajasthan Royals Captain- "It was really tough I can say but we are used to bouncing back in this competition. We came back really well. I think the wicket, bowling first it was. bit sticky and it was helping the fast bowlers but it was easy to play the spinners. Prasidh and McCoy bowled brilliantly and managed to finish well. With Maxwell and DK you have to stick with your area. Toss plays a huge role, the wicket plays completely different. McCoy keeps it very simple. The way he is responding to difficult situations is great. He is very calm and composed. He backs his strength. We are grateful to have someone like Jos and he is the reason why are in the final. I was playing an U 16 game in Kerala. I remember when Shane Warne and Sohail Tanvir was there to see RR through. Some vague memories from that match."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Harsha Bhogle.
Akshaya: Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Faf du Plessis got what he wished for irrespective of losing the toss. RCB again didn’t have the greatest of starts as Virat Kohli (7 off 8) fiddled at a delivery which was outside the off. He nicked one to the keeper off Prasidh Krishna.

Rajat Patidar then came at number three and continued the way he plays. He alongside his skipper steadied the ship with a 70-run partnership for the second wicket. Faf (25 off 27) was struggling all the way in his innings and in trying to up the scoring rate edge one to Ravichandran Ashwin at short third man off Obed McCoy.

Glenn Maxwell did start off well but his innings ended for 24 off 13 deliveries as he couldn’t control a pull shot off Trent Boult.
Patidar (58 off 42 with 4 fours and 3 biggies) continued his batting form and struck beautiful sixes off RR bowlers. He scored his second IPL fifty and got out to a brilliant catch from Jos Buttler at long-off.

After this wicket, RCB fell like autumn leaves, losing 4-wickets for 24-runs in the last 27-deliveries.
RCB couldn’t get the momentum going in the slog overs to get a good finish. Mahipal Lomror (8 off 10), Dinesh Karthik (6 off 7), Wanindu Hasaranga (0 off 1) and Harshal Patel (1 off 2) were out cheaply while Shahbaz Ahmed (12* off 8) struck a biggie off Prasidh Krishna in the 19th over to take the team’s total over 150.

Josh Hazlewood was unbeaten on 1 off 2 alongside Shahbaz as the duo could only score three runs in the final over and lost the wicket off Harshal as Obed McCoy bowled brilliantly. RR restricted RCB to a total which was well below par. RCB posted 157/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

For RR, Prasidh Krishna (4-0-22-3) and Obed McCoy (4-0-23-3) clubbed three wickets each. Prasidh was on a hat-trick at one point dismissing both Karthik and Hasaranga in consecutive deliveries in his final over. Ravichandran Ashwin (4-0-31-1) and Trent Boult (4-0-28-1) did take a wicket each in support of their main wicket-takers. Yuzvendra Chahal had a rare off day with the ball as he conceded 45 in his full quota.

Arya- Royal Challengers Bangalore needed to set the tone with the ball upfront if they had to harbour any hopes of defending this below-par score. However, it wasn’t to be as it was Yashashvi Jaiswal who set the tone for Rajasthan Royals as he smashed Mohammed Siraj for 16 runs in the very first over to put RCB on the back foot straightaway. Josh Hazlewood bowled a good following over but the tone was already set. Jos Buttler took 10 deliveries to score his first 6 runs before cutting loose.

He started to maximise the powerplay and in the company of Jaiswal, he got the Royals off to a blazing start. The match was almost done and dusted in the powerplay itself as RCB fell well behind in the game and had to play catch up all through the 2nd innings. 61 runs in the first 5 overs laid the platform for an easy win. It was Hazlewood who provided the maiden breakthrough when he managed to prize out Jaiswal in the 6th over.

RCB needed to chip away with the wickets to harbour hopes of clawing their way back into the game. However, it was some sensible batting from Buttler and Sanju Samson which nullified the required rate factor. They batted exceptionally well and RCB couldn’t quite find a way back into the game. Dinesh Karthik dropped a sitter when Jos Buttler nicked a full-delivery from Harshal Patel straight to him but he dropped a straightforward chance.

It was a brain-fade moment from Samson when danced down the track to Hasaranga and couldn't make contact and the rest was done by DK behind the stumps. However, the target was within reach and sensible batting was needed to get RR over the line. RCB had a good phase with the ball in the next four five overs. With 33 required of the last five overs, Hasaranga was given the ball in hope of a miracle but he got smashed for a couple of sixes which just seized the game for Rajasthan. Eventually a huge six from Jos Buttler finished the game off for the Royals.

Kumar Sangakkara: "It is a very good feeling to be in the finals. We played well. We responded well after that loss against Gujarat defending the total. We tried our level best and tonight we executed our game well. Jos Buttler is a superb talent and a wonderful guy. He loves to play cricket. He loves his game and he is a excellent cricketer. Talking about Prasidh, he is a excellent talent. Having 16 to defend in the last over he was taken into the cleaners. He was honest with me in the practice and he has comeback in a nice way. He has done a lot off hard work and it has shown in his executions tonight. Obed McCoy was having a very good tournament. See, this mother is a bit ill back in West Indies. Irrespective of that he bowed really well tonight. Then the spin twins have been phenomenal. We want to spend 95 percent of our purse, We did almost 8 months of work with our new investors. That has paid off. We avoided just looking at specific players. The core of our group is a group of seasoned international players. I remember playing against Rajasthan. Warnie was the captain and I got caught and bowled off him. Then they went on a dream run. We would look to get the basics right against Gujarat. Whoever plays better on that day will win."
Faf du Plessis | Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain: "Yeah, I think when we walked out of the field, we thought the total was quite below par. We didn't get the desired momentum at the end as we lost wickets regularly at the fag end. The pitch had some bounce on offer for the seamers. It was easing out as the game progressed. The fast bouncers were taking off and it was quite difficult for our batters to play. Wanindu Hasaranga done well throughout and is a consistent performances as you all see him receiving the well deserved purple cap. DK, Harshal and all who were picked for India have shown immense calmness under pressure and adapted to the situations. They all played well and we are happy for the way we fought till here. Obviously disappointed tonight. Came up against a really strong Rajasthan team who probably deserve it more than us. That's the incredible thing, not just the bubble but also you have a deep respect of the people in India. When you go back to your hotel and there's always people working till 3am, and then up at 7am for breakfast again. Grateful for all the kindness shown to us as a team, but I know it happens all across India. It's a very good part of Indian culture. Nice young talent in our squad, and obviously with a three-year plan. That's what you try to maximise. You get them raw at the beginning but they can turn into superstars. We've seen that Rajat, since he's came in, has looked at home. A great future of Indian cricket. You can always pick three Indian teams after the IPL with the amount of young talent coming through. We have a strong fan base. With Virat you expect that. When you get to hear the chant of RCB, RCB even it was the match of two different teams, it shows the popularity of our team."
What a sensational run-chase from the Rajasthan Royals. Powered by another incredible knock from Jos Buttler, Rajasthan Royals romp home by 7 wickets and with 11 deliveries to spare. Buttler also become the 2nd batsman in the history of IPL to score four centuries in a single IPL season. He literally decimated the RCB bowling line-up right from the word go and they couldn't quite find an answer infornt of his onslaught. They did bowl well in patches but by then the match was almost done and dusted. In the end a convincing victory for the Rajasthan Royals. They will meet hosts Gujarat Titans in the final of the tournament on Sunday.
Akshaya: Jos Buttler steers Rajasthan Royals through to the finals. He scored big and finishes the game with a bang! They will face Gujarat Titans in the finals on SUNDAY!!!
18.1 H Patel to J Buttler
6 Jos Buttler finishes it off in style. Gets Rajasthan Royals to the finals after 2008. They have been superb tonight in getting the job done. Take a bow Jos Buttler, an absolutely brilliant innings here. That was banged in short and that sat up perfectly for Buttler. He moves his front leg and swings that away and manages to deposit that deep into the crowd over deep midwicket.

Akshaya: 5TH hundred in the IPL. Fourth this season!! He equals the record of Kohli in terms of centuries in a single season. Jos Buttler remember the name!!
17.6 G Maxwell to J Buttler
1 Buttler gets to his 4th IPL century this season. Slower fuller-length delivery a tad outside off and that has been pushed away down the deep cover region for a single. This has been a knock of the highest order. He has almost single handedly taking Rajasthan Royals over the finishing line.
17.5 G Maxwell to J Buttler
2 Has Buttler found the boundary? No he hasn't, a couple in the end. On a full-length around middle-stump. Buttler swipes across the line and gets it from the inside half of the bat down the wide long-on region. It plugs on the surface which allows Patidar to get around and keep it to a couple.
17.4 G Maxwell to S Hetmyer
1 This time a flatter trajectory delivery on the stumps. Hetmyer punches this away down the long-on region from the crease and takes a single.
17.3 G Maxwell to J Buttler
1 Good-length around middle and leg. Buttler goes deep into the crease and works this away down the deep backward square leg region for a single.
17.2 G Maxwell to S Hetmyer
1 Hetmyer works away the fuller-length delivery on the stumps down the deep square leg region and gives the strike back to Buttler who is batting on 96. Can he join Kohli to become the 2nd batsman to score four centuries in a single IPL session?
