Fazalhaq Farooqi, Man of the Match: "I would like to congratulate the people of Afghanistan for this win. I was working on my variations. I am very happy to play for the country. It is a great honour for a youngster. I will keep trying to do well for my country and the team."
Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan Skipper): "By God's karma, we put a good total score on the board. The pitch was helping the bowlers who had the pace. Zimbabwe batted dangerously in the end. Farooqi bowled brilliantly in the end so we were able to change the course of the match. The players dropped a few catches on the field and we need to improve."
Craig Ervine (Zimbabwe Skipper): "I think we did well to chase 170 and I thought if we had a good powerplay we could have done that but we left a lot to do at the other end. Chasing 170, we always want your score to reach 40-50 runs in the powerplay but it did not happen due to which the pressure increased on the other batsman. Hopefully, we will put up a good fight in the final match."
Convincing win in the end for Afghanistan! A 21-run victory as the visitors seal the series with one game to go! As has been the case in this series, Fazalhaq Farooqi gave an early breakthrough for Afghanistan as he deceived Wesley Madhevere with a slower delivery. Coming into the series for the first time, Tadiwanashe Marumani capitalised on a drop catch and played his shots to keep Zimbabwe afloat while Innocent Kaia struggled at the other end.
Marumani's breezy 30 off 22 balls was eventually brought to an end when Mohammad Nabi induced a top-edge and took the return catch. Zimbabwe looked all lost in the chase with the asking rate going over ten runs over but Sikandar Raza started to smack the Afghan bowlers all over the park. Afghanistan didn't help themselves too as Azmatullah Omarzai dropped a couple of catches in Rashid Khan's third over. Zimbabwe just about edged ahead with the equation being 47 required off 24 balls but Fazalhaq Farooqi held his nerve to concede just five runs in the 17th over. Then Rashid Khan built upon that work by removing Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl in the next over.
With Zimbabwe's main batsmen out, Farooqi and Nijat Masood bowled intelligently and closed out the game with some superb variations!
