Milestone
Rahmat Shah (Man of the Match): The wicket was not good for batting in the first couple of overs. So the plan went on for at least 35 overs because we don't have hitters on the team. That plan worked for us and we won the game by 60 runs.
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Skipper): It was a great performance by the players. The pitch was tough in the morning and the ball was swinging. My partnership with Rehmat was important and we told each other that we have to take this innings to the end on the strength of our experiences. We will try to improve our over-rate in the next game. Ten-point were important for us.
Craig Ervine (Zimbabwe Skipper): I thought we started extremely well. But those two Afghanistan batters set the platform for the next players at the end of the innings for them. We were excellent in patches but we struggled in the other patches. We have struggled in the past to put the entire package together. With the bat, we had a good partnership up front but we lost wickets regularly. Unfortunately, we had the tail batting at the end, and that was the difference.
8:45 IST | Review: SaiprasadAfghanistan won the first match of the three matches ODI Series by 60 runs and took the lead in the series. A comprehensive win for the visitors here as they delivered such a brilliant performance in the end. When Zimbabwe came out to chase the massive total of 277 runs, they lost their 1st wicket in the 3rd over itself of Regis Chakabva by Farooqi. After that, both Craig and Kaia controlled their innings and survived the powerplay overs extremely well.

Just after a solid partnership of 61 runs both the batters fell. Then Zimbabwe started losing wickets quite frequently, they were 124 for 5 down after 32 overs. The middle-order couldn't push on and it was a great effort from Sikandar Raza. As the visitors had a huge total on the board and they had an excellent control with the ball also.

Both the pacers Farooqi and Ahmad bowled a bit fuller length and struggles the opponent a lot of times. From the bowling department, Nabi was their star performer throughout his overs. He completely changed the game for Afghanistan as he ended up with 4 valuable wickets and Rashid Khan as usual picked up a couple of wickets including his favourite man Sikandar Raza at such a important stage of the game.

As a result, it was an excellent performance for the visitors to grab the game in the end. With this, they lay down the foundation for the rest of the tour.
