That's a wrap on our coverage of the Second One Day International between Sri Lanka and Australia from Pallekele. A win for the hosts means it's 1-1 in the series with all to play for as we head to Colombo. Do join us for the Third One Day International between the teams at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Sunday as all the remaining 3 ODIS are scheduled to be played there. Stay with us all other cricketing action across the globe on our network.

For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentators Akshay Bhide, and Saiprasad Kagne alongside our scorers/analysts Vishnu Verma and Zeeshan Naiyer. Till next time, until we meet again, stay safe, happy, and cool. Good night and CHEERS! from my end.
Dasun Shanaka | Sri Lanka Skipper: "We knew the Australians bowled well up front but we had the belief. I always had the trust that my bowlers will defend this total. We knew that the pitch is going to turn. We need to come up with the right options while batting in the next game. Chamika is a warrior. I have trust in Dunith and I always back him to pick up a wicket whenever we need. A big thank you to the crowd for turning up."
Aaron Finch | Australia Skipper: "That was the difference. We were awful in the field. Guys getting started and getting out and that was the problem in the last game. Lost wickets at regular intervals. I think we were poor. We can improve a lot from this. We can't play like this. I think the A-team is helping us. Injuries are not ideal and we are worried about them. I am hopeful we can bounce back in Colombo. Thanks to the people of Kandy. You have supported us and the game so much and we will remember this for a long time. Thank You."
Chamika Karunaratne | Player of the Match: "For a long time, I was waiting for this moment. I always had the belief that I can do this for my team. Everything was planned. I’m thinking out of the box and thinking as a batter helps me. Bluffing helps me. It might not work sometimes but I’m backing myself. I made my Test debut in Australia but got injured. So nice to be back. The celebration is to the universe. Whenever I pick any wicket, I want to thank the universe."

Chamika Karunaratne is the Player of the Match.
A sensational bowling performance by the hosts Sri Lanka as they have come out of nowhere to beat Australia by 26 runs under the DLS Method. They level the series 1-1 with 3 games left to be played in Colombo. This is the lowest total defended at this venue ever.

Chasing a revised target of 216 in 43 overs due to rain interrupting play for an hour and 20 minutes, the Australian duo of David Warner and Aaron Finch gave Australia a solid start of 39 runs. Finch was the first one to go for 14 to Dhananjaya de Silva. David Warner looked good for his 37 off 51 balls as he was deceived by the off-spinner Silva. Steven Smith contributed with 28 off 35 balls, and Travis Head scored 23 off 34 balls. Marnus Labuschagne scored 18 off 30 balls, and Alex Carey contributed with 15 off 20 balls. Glenn Maxwell was superb with his 30 off 25 balls, but while he was there Australia had hoped, but it wasn't to be. Cummins and the lower order were wiped out in no time.

From Sri Lanka's bowlers' point of view, Dushmanta Chameera picked up a couple of wickets in his 6.1 overs 2-19, Silva picked up a couple of wickets in his 6 overs 26 runs. Chamika Karunaratne with his 3 wickets in 7 overs for 47 runs while Wellalage chipped in with a couple of wickets in 5 overs for 25 runs. Loads of run-outs and great fielding helped the Lankans as well.

It was Aaron Finch who won an important toss and opted to field first on a dry pitch keeping in mind the weather forecast later on, and knowing that the spinners will get more purchase of the wicket. Swepson, Head, and Kuhnemann came into the team as Stoinis, and Agar missed out due to side strain and Jhye Richardson was left out tactically. The Lankan batters got off to starts but failed to kick on as they lost wickets at the wrong time and let the Aussies back in.

The openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Pathum Nissanka scored 18 and 14 before getting out. Nissanka was the first one to go to the debutant Kuhnemann. Kusal Mendis at Number 3 contributed 36 while Dhananjaya de Silva contributed 34. Charith Asalanaka contributed with 13 as he missed out today. The skipper Dasun Shanaka contributed with 34 off 36 balls before giving his wicket at the wrong time to the Sri Lankans. Chamika Karunaratne contributed with 18 off 17 balls as he played a wrong shot at a critical time. The young Wellalage on his debut innings contributed a handy 20 off 35 balls. Jeffrey Vandersay contributed with just 7 runs before being dismissed. Dushmantha Chameera was unbeaten on 7 off 18 balls along with Maheesh Theekshana as he remained unbeaten on 11 off 14 balls as the last wicket pair had an unbeaten partnership of 21 off 25 balls. The rain came in after 47.4 overs and made sure that the Lankan innings ended at 220-9 in 47.4 overs.

The Australians used 32 overs of spin today and it proved effective for them. Josh Hazlewood was the only wicketless bowler for the Aussies, but he kept one end tight to give away only 7 overs for 26 runs. The debutant left-arm spinner Kuhnemann bowled 10 overs for 48 runs and picked up a couple of wickets. He also took a few catches and was good on the field as he made his presence felt on his debut. Glenn Maxwell, the part-time off-spin bowled 10 overs 2-35 with 2 maidens under his belt. Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers with his 8.2 overs yielding 35 runs as he managed to get four scalps under his name. Mitchell Swepson was expensive in general, but he also picked up a wicket for 58 runs in his 10 overs. We also saw Marnus Labuschagne bowling his arm over for 2 overs which yielded 13 runs. They gave away 8 extras in the bowling innings. Australia was a bit off in the field, but they managed to get the job done on a tacky pitch.

But it was not enough as the Lankans came roaring back to win the game by 26 runs DLS method. A great bowling performance enables them to level the series 1-1. The post-match presentation ceremony comes your way now.

Akshay: What a comeback we have witnessed tonight from the Lankan side. Australia collapsed from 170/5 to 189 all out. This is the lowest total defended at this venue.
37.1 D Chameera to M Kuhnemann
W FINISHED !!! Sri Lanka won the game by 26 runs. Chameera knocked Matthew entirely here. Good length delivery angling in towards Matthew, he was trying to block that one on the front foot but unfortunately the ball went through his defense straight towards the top of the middle stump to clean bowled him and finishes off the game in style.
