NIKHIL: So, we are done here with New Zealand Women winning the game, as they restricted Sri Lanka Women to a total of 102 while chasing down a total of 147 which proved to be a bit too much for Sri Lanka Women.
The New Zealand women started their innings in a cautious manner as they managed to score 41 without any loss of a wicket in the powerplay.
Bates and Devine put up yet another half-century partnership right at the top that laid a good foundation for the rest of the team to come and follow. Devine was the first one to fall as Dilhari took a sensational catch on the boundary line to dismiss her on 24. Amilia Kerr walked in After the dismissal of Devine and she perished early too as she was cleaned up by Ranaweera on a score of 7. Halliday and Tahuhu played a good hand of 22 and 20 respectively to get a total in excess of 140.
For the Sri Lanka Women's team, Ranaweera took the wicket of Devine and Kerr right after the powerplay. Ranasinghe scalped a couple of wickets of Green and Bates in the same over changing the course of this game also she got rid of Halliday to grab her 3rd of the evening.
In reply to the target set by the New Zealand Women, Lankan Women started in the worst possible way as they lost Chamari in the first over of the run chase. Sri Lanka Women managed to score 18 runs in their powerplay for the loss of 2 wickets.
Nobody managed to play a good hand and stand up to take the responsibility for this run chase as there were wickets tumbling at regular stages. Silva scored 36 runs before perishing to Matthews and she was also the top scorer of the Sri Lankan Women's team.
Jensen was the stand-out bowler as she took 3 wickets today, Carson took a couple of wickets helped well by the likes of Rowe, Kerr and Mair who took a wicket each to run through the batting lineup of Sri Lanka Women.
