NIKHIL: So, we are done here with Barbados Women winning the game, as they restricted Pakistan Women to a total of 129 while chasing down a total of 144 which proved to be a bit too much for Pakistan Women.
The Barbados women started their innings in a cautious manner after losing Dottin early on in the innings. Baig got rid of Dottin the first over itself on a score of 8 which halted the scoring rate and they could post only 38 runs in the powerplay.
Knight walked in After the dismissal of Dottin and she along with Hayley Matthews built a partnership of 107 runs that helped the defending champions to post a total of 144 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Matthews got out on a score of 51 in the 18th over and Knight scored 62 being unbeaten.
For the Pakistan Women's team, Diana Baig took the wicket of Dottin early on in the innings. Fatima Sana scalped a couple of wickets of Matthews and Kyshona Knight and also inflicted the runout of Alleyne on the last delivery being the stand-out bowler for the women in green, apart from her nobody could capitalize on the slowness off the track and the uneven bounce that the pitch had to offer.
In reply to the target set by the Barbados Women, Women in green started in the worst possible way as they lost Javed on the first ball of the run chase. Pakistan Women managed to score 33 runs in their powerplay for the loss of 2 wickets.
Muneeba Ali and Maroof played a good hand to keep their team in the game but even that couldn't help their side get over the line as there were wickets tumbling at regular stages. Ali scored 17 runs before perishing to Matthews. Maroof was found short of her crease when she was run out by Matthews on a score of 12. Nobody stood up with Nida Dar as she alone scored 50 runs and kept Pakistan Women in the run-chase and took the responsibility to take command of this run chase and they lost this game by 15 runs.
Connell, Alleyne, Dottin and Matthews took a wicket each and Matthews inflicted a couple of run-outs as well to break the backbone of this run chase.
