Milestone
That's it from match number 1 of this year's Indian Premier League. The men from Kolkata got the victory in the series opener but for Chennai fans, it was the flourish from their Thala who gave some good time in the first innings. Hope you enjoyed all the action here at our network. A lot of cricketing content coming up your way on our network so do join us for upcoming matches from all around the globe. For now, this is me Ajay Ahire signing it off along with my co-commentators Badal Pareek and Suhail Kapoor. Until then stay safe and stay cool...
Umesh Yadav (Player of the match):  "I am happy with the performance. I haven't played white-ball cricket for a long time but good to get going here and I would like to thank the skipper and team management who showed belief in me. I tried to hit the length spot on and was happy to do that successfully. It's always important to take the wicket inside the powerplay and happy to get the wicket in the powerplay. I thank the trainers who kept me fit and fine so I can give my best on the field."
Shreyas Iyer | KKR Skipper: "Watching MS Dhoni bat is always special. In the last three overs when the due started to come in, we knew the momentum would swing in their favour because it wasn't easy to grip the ball. The franchise has been really supportive, we need to carry on the momentum from here on. To be honest, Wankhede has been always special for me. I have played a lot of cricket here since I was a teenager. Considering the bowling lineup we have it was never really an issue for me. Umesh has been working hard in the nets and he has done it today."
Ru-pay super fours of the match: MS Dhoni.
Fastest delivery of the match: Umesh Yadav(142 kmph).
Upstock most valuable asset of the match: Umesh Yadav.
Cred power player of the match: Umesh Yadav.
Unacademy let's crack it sixes award: Robin Uthappa.
Dream 11 game changer of the match: Dwayne Bravo.
Punch super striker of the match: Robin Uthappa.
Sheldon Jackson: "At the start I had nerves but the staff here is backing me. I am grateful to them. MS Dhoni has always been my idol and I just look to imitate him. I have a lot to learn from him and I am already trying to pick it up."
Ravindra Jadeja |: Losing Captain: "Dew played a big part in the game. In the first 6 overs in our batting the wicket was damp but the ball came on nicely in the second half. We tried to take the game deep in our innings. All the bowlers bowled well with the wet ball and tried their best."
The season opener of this year's Indian Premier League has been won by the Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders. One-sided victory for the men from Kolkata and not so promising start to the season for Chennai Super Kings. Great start for Shreyas Iyer as a captain of Kolata Knight Riders.

Chasing 132 on a good batting surface Kolkata Knight Riders started off really well inside the powerplay. As both the batters Venky Iyer and Rahane started off by seeing off the new ball well and scored the runs at the end of the powerplay in tandem. But eventually, they lost the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer on the score of 16 as he nicked one behind to the keeper off the bowling of DJ Bravo. Nitish Rana then joined in with Rahane and the left-hander went bonkers over the CSK bowling attack as he scored quick 21 runs from 17 balls and gave the much-needed momentum to KKR's innings after the wicket of Venky Iyer.

Ajinkya Rahane batted really well for his 44 as he kept the scoreboard ticking throughout his stay but he ended up chipping a back of a length delivery straight into the hands of Jadeja at short midwicket. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Englishman Sam Billings joined the hands together in the middle and steadied the Innings after the wicket of Rahane. Shreyas Iyer scored winning runs and got his team off to a great start to the season.

Earlier in the night here at Wankhede, the KKR bowlers dominated the first half of the match as they restricted the Chennai batters at the below-par score of 131. Thanks to some special innings from MS Dhoni who scored a fifty after a long time that they managed to put on the total of 131 on the board. The rest of the batters failed to make much impact with the bat. For KKR with the ball, Umesh Yadav was the pick as he picked up a couple of wickets in his 4 overs spell. The spin duo of Narine and Varun was exceptional and they kept the innings in control in the middle overs.
Stay tuned for the presentations...
18.3 A Milne to S Iyer
4 Four!! Skipper Iyer finishes it off in style. Full in length on the stumps, Iyer flicks it towards deep mid-wicket for a boundary here. It was in the slot and Iyer gets it over the fence to win his first match as the skipper of KKR.
Ambati Rayudu is holding on to his right leg here as his knee got stuck inside the ground. And he is walking off the field now.
