That brings us to the end of our coverage for today's encounter. Till the next time, it's good night and ta-ta from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentator Anirudh Modi along with our scorer Zeeshan Naiyer.

Arya- It was Gloucestershire skipper Jack Taylor who won the toss and put Surrey in. Buoy it was a whirlwind start from the Surrey openers as Jason Roy and Will Jacks plummeted the Gloucestershire attack all around as they raced off to 60 in less than 5 overs. Both the batters made full use of the powerplay and maximised the fielding restrictions. Roy looked in delightful touch and continued at a breathtaking scoring rate. Jacks wasn’t any way behind as he also slammed three sixes and 4 fours during his half-century.

It was Tom Smith who started the collapse for Surrey as he castled Jason Roy with an arm ball. Roy went for an ugly hoick only to see his stumps get shattered. Smith bagged two more in no time to help Glocustershire claw their way back into the game. Sam Curran thumped a six on his very first ball but it was one too many for him. He stepped down the track yet again and was holed out at long-on in only his second delivery. Laurie Evans also departed soon after as Surrey was reduced to 74/3.

It was an exceptional performance from the Gloucestershire bowlers to stem the run flow and keep taking wickets on regular intervals. Overton and Sunil Narine couldn’t bother the scorers much but the final nail in the coffin for Surrey was the wicket of Will Jacks. He batted beautifully for his 51 of 33 deliveries before getting castled by a sensational yorker right on the money by Naseem Shah. Jamie Howell bowled a splendid spell and didn’t allow the mighty Kieron Pollard to get going.

Van Meekeren who started off poorly came back brilliantly towards the fag end, bagging three important wickets which included the prized wicket of Kieron Pollard. Chris Joran quite control a short delivery from Meekeren and was holed out at deep backward square. Eventually, Surrey was bowled out in less than 15 overs for just 129. Van Meekeren and Tom Smith bagged three wickets each for Gloucestershire.

Arya- Surrey wasn’t defending a huge score and hence they needed early wickets to keep a stronghold on the game. It was a dream start for the Surrey bowlers as they executed the lines and lengths to perfection with the new ball and put Gloucestershire on the backfoot right from the outset. James Bracey was the first to go as he got a leading edge of a length delivery of Sam Curran which was safely taken by Chris Jordan at mid-off.

Miles Hammond was the next to go as he was castled by Reece Topley. It was full and straight, Hammond swung across the line and missed that completely and his middle stumps were clattered. Glenn Philips was the next man to go as he closed the face of the bat a bit too early and ended up giving an easy catch to Sam Curran on his follow-through. The slump never really came down as Gloucestershire lost their 4th wicket, with the score just reading 18.

Jack Taylor and Ryan Higgins then tried to resurrect the run-chase and build a good partnership, However, just when it seemed that Glocustershire will slowly claw their way back into the game, it was Kieron Pollard who broke the partnership with the wicket of Jack Taylor. Benny Howell was bowled by a peach of a delivery from Sunil Narine. It gripped and turned and went through his inside edge to disturb the timbers.

The final nail in the coffin was the wicket of Ryan Higgins who played a premeditated shot and had to see his stumps getting clattered of the bowling of Reece Topley. Eventually, Gloucestershire was bowled out for just 92 runs on the final delivery of the 15th over. Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers for Surrey, finishing with figures of 4/18 in his allotted 4 overs. Higgins top-scored for Gloucestershire scoring 37.
Sam Curran- Little bit below par with the batting. We didn't read the pitch very well but nice to get two points. Nice to be fit after a long winter Nice to get a victory under the belt. We have had a great start in all formats. We have taken the momentum here as well. We are learning from guys like Pollard and Narine. I think we will enjoy that we have won this game. Then we have a match pretty seen, the schedule is very intense again and hopefully, we would come and perform the way we did today.
Arya- A thoroughly professional bowling performance by Surrey as they thrash Gloucestershire by 37 runs to win their 2nd game of the competition. It was a tale of two powerplays which eventually decided the course of the match. Whole Jason Roy and Will Jacks gave a power-packed start to Surrey, Gloucestershire was blown away by the Surrey bowlers in the powerplay and from there on, they had to play catch up all the way through and eventually they fell well short of the victory target.

14.6 R Topley to N Shah
W The final wicket to fall and Surrey has dominated the second innings all the way. They have defended this score comfortably. Again a slower delivery on the surface. A tad outside off, Naseem Shah goes for the pull. Gets the elevation but the timing wasn't there to carry all the way. Jason Roy who was very busy at squarish long-on completes another catch. A comprehensive victory by 37 runs.
14.5 R Topley to Meekeren
1 Again a slower delivery from Topley. On a good-length around off, Meekeren tries to slam that down the ground. gets the toe end of the bat back to the bowler but has enough time to take the single.
14.4 R Topley to N Shah
1 That is a beautiful delivery by Topley. Yorker-length on the stumps, Naseem Shah backs away and pushes that away past the cover-point area for a single.
14.3 R Topley to Meekeren
1 Length delivery on the leg-stump. Meekeren swings across the line, gets it a bit from the inside half of the bat down the deep midwicket region and takes a single.
14.2 R Topley to Meekeren
0 Length delivery around the off-stump channel. Meekeren clears his front leg and swishes that away down the long-off region for a single.
14.2 R Topley to Meekeren
WD That has been wided by the umpire. On the surface a bit too wide outside off, Meekeren throws his hands at that but doesn't make any contact.
14.1 R Topley to Meekeren
0 Reece Topley to bowl the penultimate over, From over the wicket, starts off with a back of a length slower delivery outside off. Meekeren goes for the cut and ends up getting a bottom edge, misses the keeper bit the short third man fielder does the rest.

1 Curran goes into the surface one more time. Meekeren pulls it away down the deep square leg region for a single.
13.5 S Curran to Meekeren
0 Full and straight angling into Meekeren. Meekeren swings across the line and doesn't make contact. Thuds onto his thigh pads.
13.5 S Curran to Meekeren
WD A slower delivery but ill-directed. Down the leg side and Sam Curran has to reload that.
13.4 S Curran to N Shah
1 That would have been the end of the match but the direct hit has been missed. A full toss outside off and Naseem Shah pushes this back to the bowler and eventually takes a single.
