That's it from our coverage of a wonderful game of cricket from the Adelaide Oval between South Africa and Netherlands. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricket coverage from across the globe.
So a wonderful wonderful game of cricket here at the Adelaide Oval as the Netherlands beat South Africa by 13 runs and open the World cup wide with India through to the semifinals from Group 2 with Pakistan and Bangladesh all having a shot for the second spot!

An incredible moment for Netherlands cricket as they register their first ever win against South Africa in any format. After handy contributions from the Dutch batting order comprising of player of the match Colin Ackermann (41* off 26), Stephan Myburgh (37 off 30), Tom Cooper (35 off 19) and a steady innings of 29 off 31 balls from Max O'Dowd put them in a good position at 158/4, their bowling attack then put up a great great performance to beat the strong Proteas lineup.

Left arm seam bowler Fred Klaassen gave the Proteas some early jitters by dismissing Quinton de Kock in the third over itself. Skipper Temba Bavuma got a good start but soon followed de Kock back in the hut on the final ball of the powerplay as Paul van Meekeren trapped him in front of his stumps.

Top scorer Rilee Rossouw (25 off 19) and Aiden Markram (17 off 13) added 25 runs for the third wicket. Markram then added further 26 runs with David Miller (17 off 17) for the fourth wicket which was the highest partnership for the Proteas.

The Dutch bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular interval with right arm medium bowler Brandon Glover bowling a terrific 2-over spell picking up 3 wickets for conceding just 9 runs. Bas de Leede bowled a crucial spell as well accounting for the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and Keshav Maharaj at crucial junctions.

Early wickets meant the scoreboard pressure was already up for the Proteas as they failed to score at a good rate continuously and pushed the required rate to more than 10 runs an over which became impossible to breach for the batting order. Full credit goes to the Dutch bowlers and the fielders as well who put up a great performance to back each other with brilliant efforts in the field, be it catches or quickly getting to the ball to avoid some handy runs for South Africa.

South Africa finish their T20 World cup with 5 points in 5 games on the table and the group 2 is now completely open with Pakistan and Bangladesh becoming a virtual quarterfinal to be played in a few minutes as the team which wins will join India from the group to qualify for the next stage with 6 points on the table.
Scott Edwards (Netherlands captain): "I'm little bit lost for words, it feels really great. We got used to these conditions and was happy getting near the 160 mark as I was confident about my bowlers. Our goal was to qualify for the next World cup and the results have gone our way. Really happy with that."
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "This is a tough pill to swallow. I mean we had a great team and performance. We had the belief to get into the playoffs, but we couldn't. We can look at all the performances and winning the toss and bowling first in hindsight was wrong. We tried our best with the ball. The batting let us down and as a whole, we are just shell-shocked at the moment. Credit to the Netherlands, they used the conditions and the bigger boundaries better than we did. We will seriously have a look at ourselves and see where we can improve. Just shocked."
Colin Ackermann (Player of the Match): "It feels fantastic. We deserve this victory and the boys have played their hearts out. Yes, my cameo gave belief to the boys and that helped us to get the win. The surface was slow and turning. It was drier. So, we knew 160 was competitive. The conditions suited me today as the pitch was conducive to spin. I am elated for my boys."

But the Proteas fall short by 13 runs. South Africa are out of the tournament. The Dutch with a famous win over the Proteas.
