Milestone
That is all we have from the commentary box but do join us again in a while for the second match of the day. Till then it's ta-ta from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my co-commentators Ovaise and Anirudh Modi along with our scorer Zeeshan.
Afif Hossain: It was a very important match for us. After losing a wicket early, me and Jacks tried to accelerate but unfortunately we got out. Shamim's innings was brilliant but it was an all round team effort. Mrritunjoy bowled really well along with the others.
Shamim Hossain is the Player of the Match of his heroics with the bat.
Mahmudullah: I think it was a mixed feeling with our bowling. We started well but conceded a few more than we would have liked towards the end. But it was a chase-able target and we should have won the game. I should have played for few more overs and that was the crucial part. We have to play some good cricket in order to win the remaining games.
Arya: Earlier in the day it was Minister Dhaka skipper Mahmudullah who won the toss

and put the Chattogram Challengers in. Fazal Haque bagged an early scalp for Dhaka as he castled Zakir Hasan with a good delivery. There was a 40 runs partnership between Will Jacks and Afif Hossain which resurrected the innings. However, both found it difficult to score runs briskly as the pitch was slow and wasn’t coming onto the bat.

Three quick wickets fell in a space of 13 deliveries as the Challengers were reduced to 60/4 from 49/1. Both Jacks and Afif Hossain departed cheaply while Mehidy Hasan Miraz who was promoted to No 4 perished in an attempt to up the scoring rate.

Run-scoring became very difficult in the next few overs as Minister Dhaka kept chipping away with wickets and tight bowling. Challengers needed an impetus in the final stages of the innings and it was provided by Shamim Hossain and Benny Howell. Shamim played a brilliant knock and reached his maiden half-century while Howell remained unbeaten on 24 of 19 deliveries, finishing the innings off with a maximum.

Arya: The Challengers were not defending a huge score hence it was important that they get early breakthroughs and boy they got three in a matter of no time whatsoever. Mohammad Shehzad and Imran Uzzaman was dismissed in quick time as Dhaka was reduced to 19/2. Mashrafe Mortaza was sent up the order to give some momentum to his team but that wasn’t to be as he was dismissed pretty cheaply without bothering the scorers.

It was the partnership of Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah which got Minister Dhaka right back into the scheme of things. Both batted sensibly and found the boundaries whenever the scoring rate was going up. It was a masterclass from the duo which put them in a commanding position halfway through.

A 71 runs partnership came to an end when Mahmudullah went for a big shot down the square leg region and was holed out courtesy a sensational relay catch from Shamim Hossain who parried it to Benny Howell. This was such an important wicket for the Challengers as they managed to claw their way back into the game.

However it was still looking a game to lose for Minister Dhaka. Tamim Iqbal kept finding the boundaries and along with Shuvagoto Hom got his side within touching distance of the victory target. Hom after smashing a six of the first delivery of the penultimate over was castled by Shoriful Islam that turned the scales yet again.

With 9 runs required of the final over, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury held his nerves and did the job for his team. He bagged the wicket of Qais Ahmed in the first delivery and then bowled some great slower deliveries and yorker to help his side win from the jaws of defeat. Shoriful Islam and Chowdhury was the pick of the bowlers bagging a couple of wickets each.
Arya: What an incredible victory for the Chattogram Challengers. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was calm as a cucumber in the final over and manages to defend 9 runs quite comfortably in the end. He bowled some exceptional deliveries, showing extraordinary skills with a full-paced yorkers and slower deliveries to seal the deal for the Chattogram Challengers. This was a much-win game for the Challengers and they have kept themselves afloat in the tournament.

19.6 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
1 Mrittunjoy Chowdhury has done it. A low full toss this time and all Naim manages is to smash that down the ground towards the long-on fielder, only for a single.
19.6 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
NB That is a no-ball. Full toss over the waist. Naim tries to pull it away but gets it from the splice of the bat and that is caught by the bowler. That won't count as this is a no ball but importantly no runs has been scored.
19.5 M Chowdhury to T Iqbal
1b That is an incredible delivery from Chowdhury. How good an yorker that was. Nails it just outside off and goes well under the bat of Tamim Iqbal. He steals a bye single. Six required of the final delivery.
19.4 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
1 Swing through the off side and will only get a single for that. Goes outside off on a fuller-length and that is sliced away down deep cover-point for a single.
19.4 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
WD That should be a wide and yes it is called a wide. A slower full-length delivery this time a bit too wide outside off and Chowdhury has to reload that.
19.3 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
0 Another dot ball and again a swing and there is contact but that has gone nowhere. On the surface, Sheikh tries to swap that down the leg side and only manages to get that back to the bowler.
19.2 M Chowdhury to Sheikh
0 Mrittunjoy Chowdhury you beauty. Another dot ball. Swing and a miss. Fuller-length delivery outside off, Mohammad Naim tries to go up and over and doesn't manage to make contact.

19.1 M Chowdhury to Q Ahmad
W Chowdhury to bowl the last over and he begins with a bang. Castles Qais Ahmed with a slower length delivery. The golden boy with the golden arm does the job for his team again. Goes wide of the crease and rolls his fingers over that. Not enough bounce for Qais Ahmed to swing that across the line. Goes under his bat and disturbs the timbers. This has been such an exciting clash. Edge of sit stuff and still the match could go either ways with tie also being a possibility.
