In a slow and tricky pitch, the Wellington Firebirds won the toss and elected to bat first. Northern Knights skipper Jeet Raval found this surprising because he would have bowled first anyway. They were haunted by their decision to bat first, as they lost both of their openers cheaply. And, to be honest, they didn't recover, being skittled out for just 104 runs in 18.3 overs. There were a couple of small 30s and 20s partnerships, but the Knights were unconcerned. Throughout the innings, the Firebirds were always behind the eight ball because they were rebuilding. Jimmy Neesham's 20 was the highest score for them.

Anurag Verma bowled well with both the new and old balls as he finished the Firebirds innings with three crucial wickets. His numbers were simply outstanding, reading 3.3-0-25-3. The trio of spinners did the most damage in the middle overs, stifling the scoring and picking up wickets in the process. Joe Walker was the best of the spinners, taking two wickets in four overs. Mitchell Santner also claimed a couple of scalps. In his four overs, Ish Sodhi was economical and had a wicket to show for it.
Northern Knights won by six wickets. They continue their winning streak to six matches now. Wellington done well to drag this till the 19th over. Cooper with a bang over covers off the back foot to win the game with a over to bowl.

Chasing low scores is always tricky and especially if the pitch is slow and has some turn on offer.  Knights got off to a slow start as they lost their first at 21. Soon the second wicket fell at the same score as Joe Carter followed Tim Seifert on the way to the pavilion as he was undone by a top spinner for a duck. Then Raval and Grandhomme stitched together a small partnership which was enough for Firebirds to drop their shoulders. The partnership of 36 runs ended when Bracewell got rid of Raval at his score of 15 from 28 balls. Grandhomme was the aggressor as he kept the Firebirds at bay. He was unbeaten on 41 off 46 as he saw the team over the line. Cooper's cameo of 17* runs was the winner for the Knights. Firebirds spinners done well in patches but couldn't stop the Knights from winning this one.

With this win the Knights stay top with 26 points. While Firebirds will remain at the third spot with 16 points.

6 SIX!!! WOAH, COOPER FINISHES THE MATCH WITH A BANG OVER THE COVER REGION. Short ball on fourth stump line and Cooper smacks it over the deep cover boundary for a six. The deep fielder leaps in hope but nothing he can do about that as it goes over his head. With that Knights win by six wickets.
18.5 H Bennett to Grandhomme
1 Single. Good length ball on middle. Grandhomme buys a single to square leg as he tucks that one.
18.4 H Bennett to H Cooper
1b Slower ball following the batter on leg side. Cooper misses his shot as they take a bye for that one.
18.3 H Bennett to H Cooper
2 Two runs. With that Knights will breath easy for now. Short ball angling in on middle. Cooper steps down the crease and mistimes his pull. It falls safely on the 30 yard circle at mid off. And they take two for that. Good running.
18.2 H Bennett to Grandhomme
1 Good length ball angling in on the hips. Grandhomme tucks it to square leg for a single.
18.1 H Bennett to H Cooper
1 Fuller and on off. Cooper goes down the track and drives it hard to wide of mid off for a single.
