That's it from our coverage of match number 18 of the Super Smash men's competition. Ninaad here signing off on behalf of Anmol and Ayan. Hope you all have a great 2022 coming ahead. Stay safe and take care!
Cole McConchie, Canterbury Kings captain: "Outstanding fightback, the boys were exceptional in the last few overs. Chasing such a big total with sixteen balls to spare is quite special. If we are still in the hunt in the last five overs and we found ourselves in a good position. The way Leo (Carter) batted at the top alongside Chad (Bowes) was brilliant and it transpired in the rest of the innings."
Tom Bruce, Central Stags captain: "Anytime you post a score of 200 it is quite pleasing but it is pretty disappointing to finish 2021 on that sort of a bowling and fielding performance. Every time we go out on the field we are quite happy irrespective of the boundary size. You can have good plans but if you don't execute that with the class of players we have, it is disappointing."
Cam Fletcher: "On this ground the total is never out of your reach. There were some hiccups halfway through the innings but we pulled it off well. We always put in a big effort we try to execute our plans. We get to play on big grounds like the Hagley Oval but it was good for the batters to get a game here."
Cam Fletcher is the player of the match.
Cam Fletcher finishes it off in style as the Canterbury Kings win by five wickets with 16 deliveries remaining. Every batter in the line up played their part well and put in notable contributions as the Kings seal the 218 run chase.

The Central Stags won the toss and elected to bat and got a good start as the opening pair added 48 runs in the powerplay. Wicketkeeper Dane Cleaver (61 off 32, 3 fours and 5 sixes) teamed up with skipper Tom Bruce (93* off 36, 8 fours and 8 sixes) to add 84 runs for the fourth wicket. The Stags changed gears swiftly at the death and posted a huge total of 217 for the loss of four wickets. Will Williams (2-28) was the pick of the bowlers as Henry Shipley and Todd Astle chipped in with a wicket apiece.

After losing Ken McClure early in the innings, Chad Bowes (28 off 13) was joined by Leo Carter (56 off 35) as the pair added 58 runs for the second wicket. Cam Fletcher (48* off 21) and Henry Shipley (39* off 11) then used the good start the top order provided the team and finished the game off in style with sixteen balls to spare.

Doug Bracewell started a good spell as he conceded only 18 runs and picked up a key wicket in his first three overs but finished with figures of 1-40. Joey Field picked up a couple of wickets but was taken out of the attack in his third over as he bowled a couple of no balls above the waist height. Skipper Tom Bruce bowled a good economic spell in the middle phase of the innings.

Premier spinner Ajaz Patel wasn't at his best and continuously erred in his line and lengths as the Kings batters took fool advantage of it. He chipped in with a wicket of Mitchell Hay but ended with figures of 1-31 in just two overs.
17.2 S Rance to C Fletcher
6 Fletcher finishes things off in style. Gets a back of a length delivery, in the slot as the keeper batter goes down the ground over the bowler's head long-on for a huge SIX to seal the deal here.  So, Canterbury Kings win this by 5 wickets with 16 balls to spare here. What a Game we have had here to end 2021. Over 400 runs scores. Close to 440 in fact.
17.1 S Rance to H Shipley

15.6 T Bruce to H Shipley
6 This one is in the slot, as Shipley goes over deep midwicket, and the ball sails away into the stands for another SIX. It's raining sixes here. Bruce has bowled well but the others have let him down here.
15.5 T Bruce to H Shipley
0  Short and wide, change of pace. Too close to cut.
