That's it from our end from this wonderful season number 2 of Lanka Premier League. Hope all of you enjoyed the coverage on our network throughout the season. The action of the Lanka Premier league comes to an end here but the cricketing action will continue here so do join us for upcoming matches from all around the globe. For now, this is me Ajay Ahire signing it off along with my Co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Ninaad Dixit. Until then stay safe and stay cool...
The trophy has been handed over to the Jaffna Kings and the celebrations begin at Hambantota.
Thisara Perera(winning captain): "Really honored to lead this team. Our owner gave me the power to pick the team, I am really happy today. Danushka batted really well, 200 is difficult in the chase, especially in the final and that's what I said to the boys. Better than last year, we can do better next year. Thanks to the fans, they cheered for us, thanks everyone."
Bhanuka Rajapaksa(losing captain): "I am very happy with the boys. We didn't win the title, but the effort put in was amazing. Yet again we finished second, hoping we can do it next year. It's like playing a series against Jaffna. The effort put in by the openers Danushka showed his class. We lost a couple of mistakes and lost momentum. Misfielding cost us the game. I want to thank the supporting staff, franchise, and everyone who was behind this."
Thisara Perera is the strongest player of the season.
Janith Liyanake is the emerging player of the season.
Avishka Fernando is also the player of the season.
"I have given my best for the team and I am extremely pleased. I batted at 4 recently, I like to bat at the top of the order."
Avishka Fernando is the player of the match in the final.
Dhanushka Gunathilka is the power hitter of the match.
Jaffna Kings are the winners of Lanka Premier league season 2!!  Jaffna Kings beats Galle Gladiators by 23 runs here at Hambantota. Galle Gladiators have beaten them in the last 3 encounters in this season but not in the final and the team that played superb cricket throughout the season will get their hands on the glittering trophy.

While chasing 202 Galle Gladiators started off brilliantly as Danushka Gunathilika went bonkers all over the ground and Mendis was a mere spectator in the powerplay. Ganathilika brought up his fifty in just 20 balls but soon after completing his fifty he was undone by Hasaranga on the score of 54. After the departure of Ganathilika, the Australian import Ben Dunk was dismissed on the first ball by Hasaranga.

Experience Mohammad Hafeez was the key batter in the chase but due to the miscommunication in middle, he lost his wicket on the score of 10. Skipper Bhanuka Rajapaksa can't make an impact here in the Finale as he lost his wicket on the score of 14. Opening batter Kusal Mendis tries hard until his stay but eventually, he lost his wicket due to some miscommunication in the middle. He scored a brilliant 39 but can't take the Gladiators home.

Dhanajaya Lakshan and Pulin Tharanga were blown away by Chaturanga de Silva in no time. Samit Patel while trying to go accelerate in the end but ends up giving a simple catch at long-on. And in the end, Jaffna Kings got the victory by 23 runs.

With the ball as always, Wanindu Hasaranga was brilliant as he picked up a couple of wickets in his four-over spell. Chaturanga de Silva was exceptional in his 3 over spell as he picked up 2 wickets and only gave away 12 runs and got those two wickets in succession. Theekshana the mystery spinner who was brilliant throughout the season but today he was taken apart by Gunathilika at the top and he spent 51 runs in his 4 overs spell. Shoaib Malik also chipped in for a three overs spell and he only gave away 12 runs and put the brake on the scoring rate in the middle overs. So out and out brilliant bowling performance from the Kings.

Stay tuned for the presentations....
Ayan: Jaffna wins the game that matters the most. 3 losses against the Gladiators will be history as they win their 2nd title in a row as they beat Galle again. Well done to Thisara Perera and his men. Spare a thought for Bhanuka Rajapaksa and his men. Jaffna was the better side on the night and throughout the tournament.
