So that's it from match number 8 of Lanka Premier League, the rain has the last say here. Do join us for the second game of the day here at Colombo(Hopefully no rain). For now, this is me Ajay Ahire signing it off along with my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Wali. Until then stay safe and stay cool...
So right then the game has been officially called off here and the points will be shared between both teams. The rain has the last say here at Colombo.

Galle Gladiators will be slightly more disappointed than the Dambulla Giants as they were favorites to chase the total of 160 here with the wet outfield would have helped them significantly and their batters were in brilliant form in the last couple of matches.

Before the interruption in the second innings, Galle started off well as they were 18 for no loss in the first 8 balls of the innings. Kusal Mendis played 5 balls and scored 15 runs with the help of a couple of boundaries. But the rain didn't allow us to take the game further ahead.

While batting first Dambulla scored 159 runs thanks to some lusty hitting in the last 5 overs from Chamika Karunaratne and Mendis. At one stage they were struggling on the score of 79 for 5. So it was a fine recovery from them in the end.

Ayan:- So, the rain has had the final say in this game as the match has been called off due to rain. Heavy rains forced the umpires no choice but to abandon the game and so both the teams will have to be content in sharing a point. The Galle Gladiators and the Dambulla Giants with this point will get themselves to 5 points. Galle will be at the top followed by Dambulla as Jaffna for the time being slip down to 3rd place. Jaffna Kings vs Colombo Stars is the second game of the day if the rain relents which we are hoping for. Whatever we have seen in the 21.2 overs of action was pure quality till the rain came. Stay tuned to One Cricket for the 2nd game of the day coming up assuming the rain relents.
Update: The match between Galle Gladiators and Dambulla Giant has been officially called off due to the rain. As both, the teams will share a point each. And we are all set for the delayed start for the second game of the day.
Ajay: Covers are firmly placed all over the square here. As the rain continues to fall here at R. Premadasa.
Ayan:- One thing is for certain even if the game resumes, we aren't going to hall the full quota of 18.4 overs that remain in the second innings. Depending on the rain, it does not look promising as of now. The question is can we have a further 3.4 overs from here for a result in this game. We will be optimistic and keep our fingers crossed for now. The ground is fully covered as is always the case in Srilanka. The 2nd game could well be affected by rain with the radar not looking promising as of now.
Ajay: It's raining heavily here now at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. This means we are in for a long delay here. And most probably the delayed start for the second game of the day.
Ayan:- Here, we go again. The rain is back. Loads of dark clouds around. So, they expect more and more rain here. Rain has interrupted play. Remember, we need 5 overs for a result. So, that's about 3.4 overs away. We will be back with more live-action if the rain stops.
1.2 T Ratnayake to K Mendis
2 On a good length on the off as it gets the extra bounce and turn here. Mendis cuts it over the short third man for a brace.

1.1 T Ratnayake to D Gunathilaka
1 Short of a length outside the off. Gunathilika cuts it towards the third man for a single.
Ayan:- The Gladiators may go hard early on since there are ominous dark clouds around. DLS will come into play after 5 overs. So, that is why they are going fast. As I type. the groundstaff getting ready with the covers. I hope the rain stays away.

2 High up in the air and it lands safely in the deep midwicket region. Good length on the middle and leg as Mendis goes for the big shot on the leg side but gets the top edge of the bat but it lands safely and they scamper for a brace here.
0.5 N Pradeep to D Gunathilaka
1 Another single here. Yorker length on the off stump line as Gunathilika digs it towards the off side for a single.

0.3 N Pradeep to K Mendis
6 SIXX!!! Up and over for a six into the stands. Overpitches this one on the off as Mendis goes behind that one. As he smashes that one over the long on for a maximum here. 10 runs from the 2 balls.
0.2 N Pradeep to K Mendis
4 FOUR!!! Mendis is off the mark here with a four. Easy picking here for Mendis. Short of a length on the body line as Mendis pulls it away past the fine leg for a four.
0.1 N Pradeep to D Gunathilaka
1 Nuwan Pradeep with a new ball. Starts with a good length on the middle and leg as Gunathilika taps it towards the midwicket for a single.
